Mingming the Movie

So happy that we finally get to see Mingming after a long post production. opens here 26 Apr!

Stars the very talented Zhou Xun, pretty boy Daniel Wu (heh)....Tony Yang (up and coming young taiwanese actor) and of course...cat the mafia boss (^^). Directed by award winning MV director Susie Au who have done tons videos for HK pop stars particularly Faye wong.

she also did a couple for jeff. well, i roughly know the storyline and the ending....but still curious. Like Daniel Wu said, its not a movie for everyone... cause it can be too "creative" at times with fast changing burst of visuals but its still something very different to come out of HK cinema.

well, its a cool and creative flick....the visuals look good and heard the soundtrack by anthony wong/people mountain people sea is excellent. hope my CD arrives soon.

Beautiful Life

For the first time, watched a complete kimura drama serial..haha. yup 7 years late to catch on to one of the most popular japanese romance tear jerker - Beautiful Life.
so far, i have never managed to watch thru long vacation, love gen, pride, engine, good luck etc....usually just the first and last part. usually the middle is so slow ya.

its the same for beautiful life...starts off real well, real slow in the the centre and then the finale.
only 11 episodes and i completed within 2 nites. its really quite a good script.....heart warming, quite good character development, and sub plots. it wasnt just a romance story where u have a ill fated match and girl struck with terminal illness. but rather thru the show, get to understand the difficulties of a disabled person in every day life. simple things like steps, toilet, food, cinemas, fun places...are big difficulties. and u really need some concerned and nice pple around to help. not easy to face life that positively without a loving and supportive environment.

the gal kyoko is lucky.,.....nice family and all......and then comes along shuai ge shuji.
its touching that he is able to make her beautiful, happy and smile like she hasnt done for a long time. he even tahan all her negative moods and inferior complex. but one will wonder if he really really was in love with her. he seem so cool and spaced out most of the show. he did like her but somehow i feel part of him being with her like some kind of sympathy. maybe he did have "barrier-free" heart.

kyoko is a lively and lovable character and shuji is a cool guy......in the show of course, they love each other a lot, but i think the chemistry between the 2 actors was bad. i would think they are not on good terms when the cameras stopped rolling!! haha. dunno leh, them as a couple not every convincing. they did act very well through....just lacked some positive chemistry. but then who cares when kimura acts.....the show can be dull as paint dry but fans just need to oggle at him enough. i think he and that gal in Pride was quite good together. maybe she got his wife's type of look? more longish face?

hmm..... i didnt cry buckets at the end but i liked the ending of the salon at the sea. so nice lah. its like dream come true. i did tear a bit though some bits. the opening number is well done too where shows her running in a happy dreamy perfect life scenario.

wonder why the big hype when this was out? heard that pple started buying shuji's yamaha bike model and gasp!! some couples even bought wheel chairs so the gf can sit on it!!! talk about role play man.......well...thats Japan...whatever u fantasize of, just do it!

talk about fantasy......i have attched a few videos of my beloved Kuromi san. no wonder she HATES melo so much! Melo is a complete airhead!! ...ahh....the cartoons are soooo kawaii.
poor kuromi, she is something like the coyote in roadrunner :(

Sam Cop Gals

Last week, had an early bday dinner/sam cop gathering at Sushi Tei. Sure good to meet everyone again!! Cat even brought her manicure nail art kit and did free nail art for everyone! waitress around all stared but haha didnt say anything.
Seems all Saggi pple likes DIY......so funny. Cat likes making own curtains, cushions, blanket, wall murals...and jes once made a jig saw puzzle card and fold stars jar for me and my sis...yeah make pig clothes, cookies, cushions, soft toys etc etc......

It was really fun in the old days when we all first started work at Sam Cop. We formed this thing called the ''Zhen Qing" gang (coined by carrot who watched the drama). Zeng Qing cuz we were always typing emails to each other, gossiping about anything under the sun! and sometimes when there was a funny email, we will all burst out laughing at the same time! other colleagues would be wondering if we were mad.

Its weird that when actually come work in such a industrial place like this, u would hardly imagine there are some fun young colleagues in such places. but thats a bit of destiny i guess.

We had a small pantry and we would virtually hog the table everyday. laughing like crazy during lunch. some other gals in the office were of course not too happy about it. but hmm...haha what to do. the nick names we had for our colleagues were damm funny!! aiyo.....it fits them to the bill but of course only we could understand the secret codes.

Now, well, only 2 of us left in the company. dunno if u call it lack of ambition or maybe the place simply suits. actually that more implies to me cuz the other one is on bond! ha ha ha.
we all would still be working together if not for some working issues that arised for the rest.
i was also thinking of switching at one point too but luckily i was transferred to other dept that suited me more. but some others maybe 'stuck' in some ways or the other
.

well, anyway, everyone seems to be doing well on their own now. 2 of them are super busy dealing with oil or energy trading. one went to a more vibrant MNC and the most siow one (and most gum with me, will always remember her first email - 'saiview' hahaha!!!) have just switched to 3rd job after sam cop...working in town! haha......

may not be in touch so often now but the memories are there.... keke

life sometimes full or surprises, never know who u may met^^

Pop! goes my heart! Pop goes my heart...........

Before i start writing, i just wanna scream first!!!!!!!!!! tried to embed the video from Youtube up here but the damm freaking video just doesnt appear! i dunno man, copied the codes word for word. anyway...whatever. dun let technology drive u crazy eh.

Ok Music& Lyrics.....haha...LOVE IT!! Its a very 'me' kind of movie. Its a very tried and tested formulamatic movie but who cares lah, as long its entertaining and worth your time watching it. and Best part....yeah the theme is The 80s! My gawd.....i didnt have much expectations of the movie since some reviews say its 'duh..' but during the movie, i actually LOL!! aiyoo...its been a long time...i cant remember which scene though. the 2 ladies next to me also around my age were also laughing along.

The story is nothing to shout about....sweet girl meets charming man, fall in love, one of 2 hiccups inbetween and of course happy warm and fuzzy ending. But hey, its an art doing this too! i mean try taking the formula above and direct a film and see if it sells. haha

first of all, the 2 leads are the masters of Romantic Comedies to start with. Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore........one is so witty and charming and one is so sweet and cute. most of their films are one 1 genre which romantic comedies. and they do it with so much ease. although phyiscally hugh lgrant ooks much older than drew, but somehow there is still chemistry between them. there is lots of fast pace male-female dialogue and therefore the movie flow rather pleasantly.

although i am not a particular fan of either, but they are nice to watch.
Always liked hugh grant's dressing and built. he seems to look good in tuck out shirts right from 4 weddings. overall his slim built and height really appealing lah. i love the Pop! MV too.....wah lau so funny! dunno how much make up he had on to look 20 yrs younger! he has a rather ok voice too....no problems if he wanted to be a pop star in the 80s. and he does look kinda cute. he said its amazing and a miracle now that he is officially a recording artiste, since his vocals are all in the soundtrack songs.

its really quite authenically 80s with the slow motion squence, chessy doctor, and girl with big hair, make up. haha ...but the song is really nice and catchy. u see simple pop songs like this....is better than any boyband crap now. I wonder who composed all the 80s sounding tunes in the movie. its really good and captures the feel of 80s once again. "Way Back Into Love" is a nice tune too.

Drew Barrymore strikes again with her lovey dovey dizzy self. she is very cute and pretty and looks really great now after losing weight and getting new ''modern'' wardobe. she is something like a younger version of Meg Ryan. i think casting her in this is a good choice cuz afterall she is an 80s icon. in some ways, i can identify with her behavior and character, i mean after all we are all fishes. but i would think more gals like her than boys. she is attractive and all but can be intimidating in some ways. maybe cuz too girlish and sweet to be true/real and there is actually more than meets the eye. Steven spieberg did say at the casting of ET, she was already a damm good actress and liar at 5 yrs! . haha. well, vivian hsu and her can shake hands.

I like the show also because there was a satire on the music business. Silly reality shows like 'battle of the 80s has beens' are now common. and its actually about boxing not singing. haha. and also that Cora woman is marketed now. so much gimmicks. i also noticed most of her fans were like 10 yr olds. well, that the way it is now. not that its a truely bad thing but singing and quality of songs seems to not be the most important thing now.

Drew's sister in the show also very funny. Going crazy over Hugh Grant. this is very true actually. haha.....i have a dvd of A-ha's homecoming concert. and first few rows were mostly ladies in their early 30s screaming away. haha...hey i actually did think of flying to Norway for that concert in 2001. (but i was still 20s then).but ok lah, morten still looks good and i have not seen him in person before. i think i would just cry if i did. that kind of nostalgic feeling.

overall, i liked the movie more for the 80s theme. and the songs in it. my colleague who is 5 yrs younger also liked the movie but instead didnt quite understand the Pop! video but liked the dialogue and funny bits.

its definitely a chick flick....i mean male reviewers will prob give this a thumbs down for waste of time? but what do they know anyway. haha.

ok finally i got the video going! 80s Rocks!!

Can't believe it....

I was walking thru HMV today and searching for Madonna's Confessions DVD. wondering how come its taking so long to arrive????!!! madonna stuff usually sell well here.....then finally i got the answer......just read its BANNED IN SINGAPORE!!!! AIYO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
apparently seems like they wanted to censor that controversial religious scene.

but i thought the tour went to italy too.......aiya.......like this go on, confirm no madonna concert here. i think all thru out asia selling ......... how come HK HMV can sell leh?
at the concert, i remember that segment....live to tell. nice song.

H&M shop opening in HK on March 8. first to showcase the M collection by Madonna. looks good man...and just like Hk$299 for a dress. rumoured she may cut ribbon. ahhh....lucky HK fans. actually she has a big following in HK ....... when asked about concerts in china, she said no fans write to her from there....haha

TGIF- CNY mood?

Finally its Friday.......tomorrow is the eve of CNY. yes, its good to feel the holiday mood but somehow just dunno why also feel so bored this week.

CNY is not exactly a very exciting festive period. 2 days holiday but usually not that fun. visiting and stuff seems awkward for many. maybe that is the lifestyle now. pple like dun get excited about such things. Was at Jurong Point for lunch with HK friend. good to see her again. and so coincident met Shan at the Taxi stand. asked her why not at her shop? she said didnt open tdy, dont feel like opening. well thats Generation Y for u. then she showed me a picture of her and eason chan at marina sq. so lucky.

There was still some festive mood....lots of aunties taking cab with their tens of NTUC bags filled with CNY food. they all had this gan chiong look on their face like a lot of work coming up. wonder if my generation will ever feel like that during CNY. this yr even my mum said she is tired, so not making steamboat. also quite stale eating steamboat every year. so i ordered a "Poon Choy" from Furama Palace. Hope its worth and taste good!

seem some pple around my age also feeling bored. nothing excites anymore. this is bad. but hopefully just a phase now and then. i use to want learn a lot of things. like photography....now i look at the tons of digital images to sort out and on/off the computer, sit on butt for a few hours.....i feel sian. haha!

digital technology really got pros and cons. now pple snap like nobody's business ....somehow i think not enough time is spent composing the shots nicely.
新年快乐! 万事如意!

Damm E! Ent

Was coughing like crazy yesterday so decided to finallly solve the problem by seeing Doctor. its a horrible cough.....that type were ur throat itch and u just cough untrollably till chest hurts! eeck.

Mon off....best thing in the world. after having a bit to eat, remembered Grammys are on LIVE at 9am!! wow...good timing!!! its been ages since i watched the Grammys. used to be such a big thing in music world and for music fans. remembered i used to watch it along with my dad when i was 7 or 8yrs old.

but nowadays the music is so bad and commercialised that really nobody gives a damm about award shows like this. switched on to E! Entertainment channel, great the red carpet was just happening. they got good coverage as host is Ryan Seacrest but realised he is just one kia su host. but quite talented lah, a bit fake but response is fast. the red carpet seems quite entertaining but i was really waiting for the Opening Act ...which is The Police! yes Sting and band reuniting for the first time since 83??!! wow! i am not like their fan or anything but their music is definitely one of the most recognisable from the 80s.

9.30am....thot show starting soon. 10am...still red carpet going on. 11am!! still going on! then finally the red carpet looped!! i thot "what the *^*@%&$*&%(!!!!"???"" i quickly turn to our trusty TCS channel 5 and the show was halfway!! OMG............that stupid E! didnt show the main event!!!! just the red carpet. aiyooooooooo!! its really Nuts!! GGgrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

waste time. missed the Police. cant believe it!!!! things like that always happen once in a while huh. had to watch repeat then........

there was one talented guy than stand out - John Mayer. he is young does Blues and stuff. been so out of Eng music scene that i havent really hrd of him until recently. anyway he is dating Jessica Simpson??? duh!

really makes me wonder if her stupidity is all an act???

7

Went to watch the eason chan concert last sat. it was really quite impressive.
Maybe my expectations were low ……but I think I did enjoy the concert more in spore than HK. Furthermore…aiyo cheap seats really far far far.
And the sound system in spore is really THE BEST! The Clearest! The Best Engineered!
After watching concerts in HK, Tw, Msia, Japan….nobody beats the sound in spore! Honest.

Although the HK set was much more elaborate with costumes, dancers, monsters, automatic props….but somehow eason seems so far away from everyone.
He did put his whole heart into singing but there wasn’t much of a connection with the viewers.
The flow of the concert was smooth. He started out with some fast energetic numbers and then later moved into mid tempo and then the ballads with a mini-orchestral. The music arrangement was really brilliant

In Singapore, it was a simple set up with a good band. It wasn’t that simple in a sense the stage was rather wide where eason could prance around and the lightning was rather stylish. He did 4 costume change which was fine also. Although the crowd needed about 30-45mins to warm up, the connection was clearly there. Eason also put in effort to attend to the shy sporean crowd…he must have been warned or felt nervous about it as well. At the end of the concert, everyone naturally could feel his enthusiasm and rushed to the front of the stage. Pple were getting HIGH! For the last number, eason dance around like a highly charged Duracell bunny….!!

It was simply a quality performance and so glad that I was part of it. Only thing I shld have done was get the top seats. Its really not everytime u get a concert this good.
