Happy Week

Quite happy i had a pretty relaxing birthday week (last wk)....hee.....sort of slacked the whole week away by eating and day dreaming....well...monday i was in KL....super nice colleague offer to drive us up so a short break....he could drive well and we reached KL in 3.5hrs! traffic was smooth too......luckily my phone didnt ring much from those company pple....KL wasnt too hot thank goodness...lots of shoes in KL...and sales too. the izzue there was disappointing...clearing old stock from 1 yr ago collection. Tues: no mood to work, still holiday mood....haha...boss also busy so......at night wanted to eat crabs at Joo Chiat, bday dinner with family....Eng Heng coffee shop....they have nice pepper crabs there but service sucks! anyway, crab sold out at 7pm...irritating.....lucky i had a back up....went to this japanese restaurant at Siglap...called Igen. dinner buffet was great....quality of food is fresh and good. grilled cod fish and golden mushrooms wrapped with bacon very shiok! finally went back and found a great surprise on my bed!!! when i on the lights ....i saw THE SAM SOON PIG on my bed!!! SO CUUTE!!! i was really thrilled cuz i love the drama so much and never knew that this pig made its way to spore!!!
Sis bought for me as a present....^^ dunno where she find also...cuz only available on net from what i know.

Next to Sam Soon pig is Kuromi.....my fave sanrio character at th emoment. she is cool and suppose to be "evil" haha...hence that skull on her black cap. Kuromi mix around with My Melody, she is melo's child hood play mate...but sort of when off the track and become like that. haha....she started appearing in a japanese cartoon series and soon merchandise came out. very cute! i read her bio data.....Kuromi likes cool and happening guys (" you xing de nan hai")....haha and her latest craze is " reading romance novels". hee

Wed: My bday! quite suprised that new dept colleagues organised a lunch for me at Hill Top. the indonesian food was pretty good and they paid everything. later in the afternoon, they presented me with a cake....in the boss office. boss had to sing Happy Bday too! paiseh lah...the funny thing is that...earlier on lunch...one male colleague asked "so how old are u actually"...i just said 27! he said..oh....thot you are 24!...happy happy but dunno pulling my leg or not. then came out the cake with 3 big candles and 1 small one!!! aiyoo! i got a shock!!! how could they do this to a gal! haha!! now everyone knew......the person who prepare is also a lady...older than me somemore,...so insensitive meh?!! not that i am particular about age but the thot of fooling that male colleague now gone liao! sigh! anyway, i do think most pple thot i am younger.

At night went to this steak house at fullerton area.....food not bad esp the fried mushrooms. service also good. best surprise was when waiter said today is ladies nite...so complimentary wine, beer, vodka and gin ...free flow!!! wow!! this is too good to be true! the meal is avg like $20 per main course....they give free flow booze is really very worth! so drank to my heart's content. blew out another cake, this time ice cream. went home, sis also bought a small slice of cake....blow candle one more time

Thurs: still of course no mood to work and boss not in or something.......lunch time another group of colleagues brought me to mac at west coast. this is quite a nice stand alone mac...some thing like ridout garden in queensway. they surprised with a rive mango cake.......and also a present wrapped in isetan paper bag. couldnt find lighter so fren borrowed from a group of 3 guys behind us. they lend only if we give them a slice of the cake. my fren said ok, if they sing the song for me too....so they did ...haha..... gave them about 1/3 of the cake.

the present was a real suprise......they bought a che2 bag! the thing is that is the smaller version of the model i am carrying at the moment!!! hahaha!!! so crazy...similar colour too. one girl told the buyer that i like che che bag...so she went to buy that model which she think is very me...true enough she is correct! but day in and out she didnt notice i had the same bag only bigger and colour a big diff..anyway....small one also good....can use for casual outings.....most prob my sis will borrow it....

fri......boss totally not in...went Bintan for golf! haha......one of the colleagues last day , so we ordered KFC and Pizza in.......during the lunch they talked about MNIKSS ......had a nice discussion with them on fave scenes.....didnt know they watch. actually they have been circulating k dramas around.....they lend me one...about some colleague kids.....dun really look entertaining but just took it. at night went swimming....since dunno how long never swim liao..but felt good after having some water theraphy.

Sat - had the nice indian rojak and chicken rice at waterloo street. yummy! really the best indian rojak in spore and prob the world. dunno who will take over this rojak business as the chef is already 74 yrs old. seems its hard work making the sweet potatoe sauce everyday at 4am. later walked around bugis and went to guan yin temple. lots of pple cuz its guan yin bday. later my sis introduced me to a nail place at bugis .....it had a shanghai theme and was really relaxing cuz no body! nice. service was good and the music was cool......it was some chill music shanghai style. i like the place cuz it was not cramped or bright. the chairs were big comfy arm chairs a la shanghai european style. did a spa treatment for feet.....cuz payday...very good.

later i decided to get a ticket for disney on ice.....yes dunno why i felt like going ...just had the disney magic urge...haha...and never seen one of these ice skating shows. the show was great esp i like the small world part. its taken from the small world ride in disneyland which i love. its a truy happy ride, after you come out , you will smile...guaranteed. the characters were cute also...like the shark and pig from nemo and lion king. i end up being a sucker for the merchandise by getting a 3 pack cotton candy and a mickey mouse crown! the crown was nice....but i didnt dare wear it for too long. haha....

Sun...woke up late and laze around....nite time when for dinner at a simple cantonese style casual restaurant at Hwa Chong swimming pool. then went to turf city.......the place like almost going to close down! but sam soon was playing in the DVD shop there...haha....

tomoro back to work...... :(

yuks....

ok, thats the end of the bday week........! hope this kind of feeling can repeat more often...keke

eason's world

Been a month since i went to HK! time flies ..should have bought that vivian westwood wallet there! now regretting a bit. but when you are there, you are so afraid of over spending cuz there is INDEED too many many desirable things to get!!!!

The main objective of the trip was of course to see Mr Eason Chan's "Get a Life" concert. told myself just had to go this time. and he said in spore maybe its the last time he will perform at the HK coliseum. (my hk friend said...'nahhh..dun believe him...now with wife and kid...no way"...haha) ....well whatever, but i feel eason is one of the more outstanding singers around and he knows his music.

It was my 3rd time at the coliseum....and everytime there is a sense of excitement esp when walking thru from TST east thru the KCR station....u will be walking with many many pple heading for the same direction accompanied by lively chatter in anticipation of the concert!
lots of young pple naturally dressing their best. the trend now is big crazy curls in hk so you see lots of gals in their colourful gear, pretty make up, 3 quarter pants with boots and some with an equally cool bf by their side.

Eason delivered a great concert...100% effort definitely!! in fact some parts i felt he was really too serious about singing with emotions and getting everything perfect. but overall he wanted to focus on music and less nosense. suprisingly he didnt talk to the audience until the very last part of the concert, saying he wanted to sing more songs...which he really did ..... the concert was done immaculately (as always) by K's productions.......there was a cute goulish theme for the whole set......and the characters that accompanied eason were all so weird and cute! there was some spider , pumpkin heads, bubble pple, a cute smoking house and a cloud than could rain on stage.

The concert was not really a commercialised one where he sang all the k-hits and had fancy dancing and fireworks....but it was really just him and what he wanted to express. dun think it made superb headlines the next day or wowed everyone to scream or whatever, but it was a showcase of an artiste that is serious about his craft and the world he live in.

He is a very funny guy who has lots of crazy ideas...and he acts them out accordingly. seems once he was really bored sitting for 2-3hrs at an awards show, that once it was his turn to perform, he practically jump up the stage and started doing aerobics or whatever moment he could do as his butt was so 'tired' from all that sitting!!! pple thot he was nuts....but he said he doesnt care cuz that is what he feel like doing at that moment. haha.....

the coliseum was full almost everynight, tickets ranged from HK400 to 100....highly affordable. everyone was armed with pong pong sticks...something spore concert dun have. eason had to do 8 shows straight...!! wonder how can tahan like this everyday but this is HK so no body complains of work...haha!!
straight after the concert, the most amazing thing that can only happen in hk is the concert photos for sale of THAT NIGHT for sale!!!!! outside the hall.....in full colour and good angles....you can buy a piece of memory straight away. this is how fast they work and cash in on the moment.

last sat, a retail article came out in ST, written partly by my poly lecturer ...an PHD in retail....and it was mentioned HK is the #1 shopping place in the world ...one of the main success is that they are excellent in creating impulse buy for the consumers...where everywhere u go ...u see things and think ..." i gotta have THIS NOW!"......trends move fast and old stock get slashed as sold off quickly unlike here....u may see the same thing sales after sales....haha

read from media that eason is throwing a wedding dinner party today 323...he and his long time gf is now finally officially married. and so romantic to think that he has arranged 3 mins of fireworks for the evening....costing S$60k. this is really sweet....i think i will prob just cry if this happens at my wedding...aaahhh...... being pisces...i think i am a sucker for this type of things. dream proposal would be a mild winter's nite at victoria peak in HK...with all beautiful night view around...haha......and dream wedding would be something like those they hold in Tokyo Disneyland.....princess gown and horse carriage.....hee.....siow liao....
anyway in japan, most of their wedding packages are very fairy tale like...decor and design and all...wonder why spore dun have....i am sure some pple like this. its so boring where everything is simple and urban. weddings must have a touch of romance! or not marry for what...just rom can already. some pple the rom off the rack fake satin gown is the same as the wedding dinner wear......i dunno lah....just seems unmemorable ...more like a chore.

hmmm...prob its down to the weather here AGAIN......haha.....hot and humid ...so every thing simple chin chai is the best or not get mung chang!!! hahahahaha!!!

ok, back to Eason......well, looking at his career, his wedding and his cute daughter...just feel he is very Xin Fu now.....all the best for the newlyweds!

*yummy cake!
Finally decided to buy the Maxim crispy cake that my friend always rave so crazily about! took some courage cuz the cake cost HK$145 per pound and minimum order of 2 pounds! its called Chap Guo Cheng Yan or something.....the ultimate indulgence....cripsy sweet biscuit base with a layer of walnuts and chocolate and also yougurt, soft sponge, tons of generous pieces of expensive fresh fruits in between and macademia nuts inside the cream. Plus the whole cake is wrapped with thin butter biscuits....actually its quite an experience to eat it...cuz i had to figure out what in the world they put inside. my fren always buy this 1kg odd cake back from HK ....thot i just try lah....my dad thot i was nuts to bring a fragile cake back. funnily at hk customs.....when the cake went thru the scan machine...the officer shouted at the staff..." careful!! its a cake..."....hee...they rather rough handle your camera and handbags....but noooo...a cake is very important.

Was i ever a teenager?

Went to NUS last weekend, after a long long time.....havent been there since 1997 when i was doing my degree course and used to treat the library as my second home. i was there to sort of support a friend who had a stand at the cultural centre selling jewellery and stickers. wondered if i could still remember my way around the chanllenging up and down steps of of kent ridge. took the old faithful 33 right till the end and yes! i could still find my way easily.
much has changed, except noticed a lot of foreign ...many of them. as i walked thru, i heard chinese nationals, ABCs and indian nationals....spore has changed a lot...just stand at any bus stop now, and what you hear are a spread of foreign languages buzzing away. dun only hear sporeans talking that much now.

the fair was not really crowded, they were holding an arts festival and had many performances through out march. there was an olio dome at the cultural centre and my goodness the sandwiches were $9.50!! isnt this place for students...i guess inflation went up that "much"!
soon, a group went up to stage, it was a duo....malay singer and chinese guitarist. all young. they did some covers...not too bad and the malay guy sang a jay chou song...aiyooo is this necesary??
the teens nowadays are not shy or reserved at all......in fact they are rather professional and sort of street wise. although the audience was only a few pple, the singer tried to create some interaction with the crowd.

there were 2 kinds of pple at NUS.....one was the pretty and happening pple (eg gals who had good figures, usually long groomed hair, "sexy" and confident dressing, quite tall...and guys who were hunky and attractive)...they talk loudly and practically know everyone that comes by. some are really quite fake and unnatural, but of course some just naturally bubbly and well liked. then they are the second group of pple....the more reserved, 3-4 girl or guy clique....usually simple in dressing..like jeans, cheap skirts from far east plaza...talk softly and modest make up. they are interested in all these events, but usually dont stand out in the crowd or express themselves outwardly.

the crowds suddenly started to come in about 7.30pm...ooohh...there was a HIP HOP contest going on....! this i gotta see man.....very curious to know what is the HIP HOP standard in spore....i always see them practicing in the underpass near esplanade...they dun look very good lah...haha. The MC was a guy and gal, all dressed up in their hip hop street wear gear. the girl looked so hip hop korean babe...in a black tight singlet tank top, track pants, trucker cap and long straight black hair in a ponytail. heavy mascara. cool....at least the dressing is correct for a start.

they were pretty good at hosting and quite natural....maybe like MTV pple wannabe but at least they set the tone for this kind of competition....you gotta speak some street language. the contestants were pretty ok, 2-3 very impressive, the did free style to music they didnt know. but most still not enough energy. the defending champion was a gal who could really shake her bootie...she wore this really low low pants and of course showed off her "six pac" . for guys, the most impressive was a korean guy who came from korea just for this (?)...not sure if he is a student but he had the groove...very good dance steps to fit the music. and very smooth too. he was a crowd fave. the audience had to vote for their fave by coming to the front to put their cans into the contestant's bag....quite silly and waste time but hey students organise one...haha
some guys couldnt dance very well and still join....wear some silly shirt over jeans..and jumped up and down like a hippo or something. i think they just learn maybe for 2 weeks?

the korean guy was out in 3rd round cuz in this round there was some obiang woman who came up like in line dancing costumes or dated paula abdul 90s dressing. she is ex NUS committee or sum'ting...and they had to follow her kinda paul abdul moves....eee...the contest suddently took a turn into the 90s. (sadly my prime teenage years were in the 90s....one of the worst era for pop music....chessy and horrible. the only good thing was brit pop and some alternative US grunge but that wasnt really thruout the 90s or that maintream....pple who ruled 90s were very varied...spice girls, NKOTB, 2 Ulimited, Aqua, a boring mellowed madonna, vanilla ice, michael bolton and lots of one hit wonders...ok you get the picture...). Anyway, he was out cuz he couldnt really follow her moves, it was just not his style. the defending champion girl was good, she could follow and memorise well. i couldnt really see the judges in the crowd but they sounded like old lecturers...haha

overall, it was interesting to watch this competition or observe what do these teenagers like nowadays..or how their behavior is....funnily i released if i was 18 right now viewing this....i would have just view it the same way i feel now at 30. dun think i would be extremely excited or anything ....just observe u know....which makes me think was i ever young once? with youngish thinking and behavior....i think not so...i am all along the same! with that same matured thinking even at 16, 18....when u look at some teens, they usually have foolish actions or some complicated BGR stuff....but i never "fell" into that which i wonder if its a good or bad thing...haha... in sec sch, i could see the reason for my frens to sit on buses which passed certain bus stops to view some guys or wrote love letters to their crush...it just seemed meaningless to me. and i didnt find any guy good looking too! haha..the only guy which i sort of liked was my fren's on off bf....cuz he knew brit music and stuff.... but thats about it. .
as a teenager, i was only keen to listen to BBC for the latest brit charts, reading smash hits, going around the malls for sales, going to book shops and CD stores....lying in bed..doing nothing.

now at 30, nothing has really changed much (except got $ to travel)....maybe i should go in reverse gear.....where others are starting to mature....... hmmm..weird...
