A new KL?

Finally for once, i splurged a little on a 5 stars hotel. i thot hey! what the heck.....AWS time. so booked the Westin in KL. It was only RM$350++ for weekend rate. thats pretty ok and plus breakfast!! Diana wanted to try that out too....so set.

Took a Transtar normal VIP coach........and reached newer PasarRayat bus terminal in about 5 hours (KL still jam so add 1/2 more)......thot it would be a bit of distance to hotel so got ripped off by their famous taxi drivers....he quote RM$15! i said how can that be when i can the hotel from where i am standing!!?? but he didnt really wanna lower....so sigh ok lah....tired and all ...settled for RM$13. Well, DONT ever take cab next time if stay at BT Bintang....later found out can easily walk if not too much luaggage.

The hotel service was really good and fast ....and as some ang moh tourist commented, the lift also as fast as the service. yup....it just zooms up pretty fast. I requested for a Twin Tower view....and lucky they gave it to me...so yes a pretty night view of one of the world's tallest buildings (now taken over by 101 in Taipei). Room was big and tried the trademark "Heavenly Bed".....its sure luxurious...10 layers of finest cotton, fluff...whatever....so once you plonk on the bed...your body virtually sink in nicely...soft lah.......the toilet also damm spacious.....got magnifying mirror for u to do your "own facial"

the lobby is not exactly very big but they serve drinks and snacks for all guest at nightfall. kinda cool. they also had a reebok gym and a pool but i think with that bed, you just wanna nuah around. also a shuttle bus to KLCC.

concierage told us a great place to eat at the back of the hotel. its called Imbi carpark......found a coffee shop there ....the yong tau hoo and char kway teow very good!!! the tauhoo and all very fresh and smooth...and heard the char kway teow is one of the best in KL! its about $4 rm though, more on the high side for msia....well thats what local said. but its almost perfect and not very oily.
also saw pple eating roast pork......looks very good too. and mind u there were like rich tai tai looking pple in that small dirty looking coffee shop.
at night, some makeshift stores will come in and there is a nice atmosphere. good for late suppers.

second day, tried the Westin breakfast at The Living Room.....wah ! not bad......they serve like all kinds of coffee to your liking....latte, cappucino ....and many varities of tea. also a smoothie bar.
first drink i took a bloody mary with pepper rimmed glass....good wake up call. there were local fare like nasi lemak, noodle soup.....laksa...and also the saguages eggs etc.......also an indian station and japanese style chok and pickles. what was most impressive was the bread and pastry section. One WHOLE room!! they had like a wide ..and i mean wide assortment of quiches, savory bread with toppings, muffins, cakes......handmade pancakes, waffles.....salad selections, fruits and over 5 types of yougurt. just take yr pick man.

bascially i whacked most of the stuff....haha...cuz the day before didnt eat a lot. hee hee.
standard of the food is sort of better than most hotels in Msia....while eating, think i saw Deanna Yusof ....look like her...well....

shopping in KL this time was more memorable than previous trips. maybe its the sales....and i think they getting a bit more updated. Isetan at KLCC had most of the brands found in spore and everything was on sale. service may be slower but they are more patient and polite. its really seldom very crowded in more ''high end'' dept stores in Msia so its a nicer environment to shop. lesportsac was like 20% off......not sure if this is norm in spore?? tempted to just get something but then realise i didnt need a lesportsac. haha. happy that they still have the Sun Molin Cafe there....so sad the one at isetan scotts taken over by TCC! simple setup but so cute la the cakes and teapot. nice for a tea break during shopping.

Sungei Wang Plaza as usual very crowded ..... but managed to get a Vinci bag.....lucky woman before me use hsbc and they gave her 10% off. the funny thing in msia was they dun have signs for credit card promo...so its like happen to use or if the sales staff kind enough to tell u. odd.
Mango was also 50% sale like spore but a lot of designs still available ......maybe its slower turn over there? anyway bought another bag...hehe.....all thanks to my colleague who commented "so long never see u change bag huh....?''...hmmph.....

also went to Sunway Pyramid...its another shopping mall.....taxi ripped us off again...RM40 for one way trip. but seems its the norm...well hotel also say shld be that price! back trip is only RM$20! cuz at Sunway go by some govt coupon system! aiyo.......dun understand the logic here.
sunway is something like genting.....only its not on the hills and no casino. haha.....big shopping mall there too.....but a little run down looking but filled with SO SO many families. met my FC friends there.,...so happy, the nice (unexpected) OB pple arranged for us at VIP seating at Halo Cafe! for the live showcase. felt kinda cool man....cuz we just said "we from spore!" and they usshered us in with a smile like they are so happy we came all the way... ....heheh...Chinese in Msia are definitely more warm than here.......dunno why more re qing. i was thinking if the other way round like Msian fans who came to spore......well....dun think it may be the same treatment? hmmmm.............

luckily managed to find manicure at sunway.....the manicurist was young and wore girlish boyish clothes ala HK style. quite pretty too. service also excellent. she was fast, did mani, pedi for 3 of us in 2 hrs. while i was waiting for 2 of them, she asked if i wanted a free foot soak since i look tired. now thats initiative man! she said eating at sunway is expensive for them....about at least RM$10 a day.....then i ask how she come to work.....quite far....she said drive lor! surprised......their quality of life is not bad. seems everyone drive there. spore quality of life may not be neceassay good cuz we are paying inflated property and car prices......

finally the trip ended with a suprise. actually from the back door of the hotel, we could walk to Pasar Rayat bus terminal.....the hotel staff show us the way. when crossing the small roads, cars actually stopped for us since we got small luggage! now this i have NEVER seen b4 in KL. drivers there so nice. and when we check in with Transtar, they said " we have changed the buses for 7pm ....instead of Executive, you will be upgraded to PREMIUM!"..wowwhee!!! hooray!! now thats a nice way to end the trip! Premium means individual screen and leather seats on double decker coach. i wanted to book this but its very popular so all sold out.

The ride back was very comfortable. besides the screen loaded with movies and variety shows, there was also massaging chair. and also a bus attendent on board to serve dinner, coffee and snacks! the made u feel like a true classy traveller. the bus stewardess announced " welcome to transtar, our journey from KL to Spore will take 5 hrs. ....." heheheh.

i took the first seat on the second deck....had a good view of the roads and highways ...with my MP3 and bus moving along smoothly......the feeling was great.
we reached spore in only 4hrs, as there was only one toilet stop. saved a lot of time . now i guess why pple are willing to pay for more comfort. it makes a big difference.

Over the trip, felt KL is definitely moving and improving in terms of affluence and modernisation. middle income is probably rising and big huge malls and shops are in construction. although they are still behind spore iin many areas but i dont think its difficult to catch up in terms of toursim and lifestyle. anyway they have the resources to catch up if they really put their mind to it.

will our IR work? will we really have a Universal Studio? will spore still be as competitive and virbrant in SEA? well, all to be seen in the next 15 years.
but one thing for sure, we better improve our nightlive!

Trailers

Yesterday, watched the new Bond film Casino Royale at vivocity. New bond guy is actually not too bad! the movie is indeed a new style, new era of Bond movies.....the way the storyline is, filming....even the theme song not sung by someone famous. Blond and blue eyes, you hardly can associate this image with 007, but it was convincing enough cuz the fighting scenes against the villians were exciting......bond seem tough again.it wasnt perfect but better than expected.
some romantic cheesy moments were odd..... when 007 fell deeply in love with the lead actress. suddenly became so wimpy (like Samshik...haha).....

before the movie, they showed a few trailers....namely Spiderman 3, the new andy lau movie and the new jay chou movie. all looked kinda boring actually.

spiderman turn bad in part 3, and the movie trailer looks really messy. like cut and paste sequences....i think this may not be good as 2. looks kinda dark and predictable.

the jay chou and andy lau period drama are 2 of the many chinese movies surfing on the hollywood chinese wave.....but i think that is kinda of passe already. 2 trailers really look identical with the massive computerised army fight scenes, lavish costumes and english narration......yawn.......everything is so americanised.
jay chou looks like he will not have much lines in the show, all i see is him making aggressive expressions getting ready to fight. andy lau one looks dull also......all about fighting again, costumes all black.
maybe they should market original HK movies like Internal Affairs to the west rather than this.

Blue Dragons....eck....

Tomorrow instead of a nice sleep late Sat.......dun have! now tomorrow is our ''beloved'' company Family Sports Day........so exciting man....haha!! anyway i have been tasked to come at 9am to help with logistics for my House. yes ......back to the good old school days where we are divided into various coloured teams to compete each other.

champion house get prizes of course....whole idea is to get company closer together. i wonder if this will help in anyway. its funny cuz since i have been in this co, there were some teambuilding events, but yah, during the event, everyone group together, stay close for a few hours, after the event ends...everyone just goes separate ways! i guess its really tough for working adults to maintain good friendship beyond work nowadays. everyone is just caught up in their own things.
its weird how humans behave. my chinese teacher was commenting on this a while back....you can see a person everyday but in the end not even know the person at all. its something that cant be explained.
my old gang has all left the company, still keep in touch but its more fun with them around.
we had so many nicknames for fellow colleagues.......its just hilarious. we often use these secret codes to talk about them
one particular gal whom join about a week after me.......after one silly email from her, knew we definitely can click. she is full of silly humour......that email she sent contained a new word "saiview".......i nearly laughed off my chair!!! it was to describe a certain person and the office fengshui......anyway......only a few of us can understand all these codes we created. there are also many more.....
She is a typical Saggi person, always like to go out shopping or something despite have 2 kids at home. same here for boss secretary.....also cant stand staying at home. just have to out although 1 baby at home. my sis as well......
funny that most the pple i can talk to are into a few board categories.........Saggi, Cancer, Scorpio and Leo. Virgo, gemini, aries, capricon, Taurus,pisces....so so--average....and least friends come from Libra, Aquarius

anyway, lets see what happens tomorrow. at the moment my House is so call in the lead, my ever competitive house leader has the support of certain influential pple which i think is a smart way of getting members participate more. another friend is not so lucky.......she doesnt really know how to get the pple together to win for his house, so struugling. in the end, this becomes a chore and not fun....its stressful.

RW

Passed by the Popular Bookshop at JE after (zzzzzzzzzz.....) work tdy......decided to check out the latest english albums....boy! its definitely a long time since i bought an eng album. Popular is not exactly the best place to for a well stocked catalogue of eng albums....but if you want latest latest commercial chart ones can. haha. price also can lah.

Saw Robbie William's new album Rudebox. Wonder if i shld get it.....its silly cuz on one hand i just saw his latest MV "Lovelight" on channel V, and it was pretty cool and groovy......robbie is just unique in his own way.....and his little special charm and attention seeking ways. always thot he was the different and outstanding one in Take That. and yah turn out to be. like where are the others now u know....

On the other hand, felt a bit affected that he cancelled his whole Asian Tour! I am of course not any big fan of his ...but its really not good news to hear that he cancelled this much anticipated tour...and only the asian cities. lots of pple were mad and said they wont support him again.
this is the reason:

Robbie Cancels Asian Tour Dates.
16th September 2006 09:26:38
Robbie Cancels Asian Tour Dates.... Robbie Williams has cancelled the Asian leg of his current world tour, blaming stress and exhaustion.
The Angels star was scheduled to visit Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Mumbai (Bombay) and Bangalore in November (06) - but his spokesman insists that, after forcing himself to struggle through dates in Europe and upcoming shows in South America, honouring his Asian concerts is "asking too much".
The singer's representative said Williams, who has been performing in Milton Keynes this week (begs10Sep06), is "extremely tired" after kicking off his tour in May.
Hitting the "entirely new territories" of India and China "would have greatly added to his workload".

sounds lame? dunno man.....like why only asia? he will continue with the Australian dates on Nov30. sigh.....maybe just gotta to accept the fact he is not so comfortable in asia so if tired, here cancel first. well....he has a point..."new territories". but i guess maybe ticket sales werent that fantastic also...just a guess.

anyway, i decided to get the CD. music is music! and i must say its rather interesting material.
Title track Rudebox is well.....basically rude! haha......but robbie can get away with this kind of thing. maybe censorship board here also relax liao......but his rudeness and swearing is just him...his typical trying to be funny and amusing style. this album he has gone to embrace dance music ....just like madonna who went back to disco etc. its fun enough. lots of 80s style electro beats too. anything 80s i like! there are 17 tracks on this and 5 covers.......theres a tribute to madonna, collaboration with Pet Shop Boys, and songs about 80s and 90s. lyrics and rapping some say sound cheesy but i think these pple dun know his concept and style.
i have seen some interviews he gave on TV in the past (he did visit Spore for the VMA in 02 or 03), quite hilarious......very witty and funny, direct.....quite a real guy (i hope).

i admire stars who dare move out of their expected genre of music...its tough but gotta start somewhere. thats why, i think the chinese music scene is really bad now....everyone is basically playing safe. now what they call hot is like r&b, hip hop.....huh?!!! that was like 6 years back when jay chou came on scene. ever since its been like that and everyone follows.
is the market that small? chinese pple are prob more than any other race in the world? well perhaps the chinese pop music industry is still not as developed as the western one.
or maybe majority of chinese people like prefer basic ballads, love songs at the end of the day. forever will be like that. One good news is maybe Elva is back, maybe she can give that Jolin a run for her money.

then in the shop, i saw compilation album of the 'latest' hits....like Pink - Stupid girl, Nelly f....whatever...Promiscuous....and nearly wanted to but it! aiyoo.....i finally realised maybe this is a sign of getting old(er)...ahem.....haha. used to detest this kind of compilation when i was in school. whereas my uncle would always buy this type...latest hits. i will suan him like dun have this that, this song already so old etc etc. now its happening to me....haha. i dun of course follow the pop scene that closely anymore so only know the so call hit songs. but or course only the better ones lah. anyway i didnt buy cuz there were some terrible songs inside too.
Whats up with people who like to wear corny slogans t-shirts? i can never understand what exactly they are trying to express when wearing it. Like tdy in MRT....one door in...a guy wearing a yellow quite tight fitting t-shirt with bold words "Will Shag for Food".........is that funny? or does he really mean it? or is it cool? dunno lah, the design and fonts of the t-shirt look crappy anyway. those bold big words.

Funny thing is coming thru another door, is a lady wearing a black t-shirt "I am better when i am bad" or something....haha!! Again big big words over the t-shirt. she looks normal office girl, 30+.

so funny, all these pple go to work in such togs. maybe this guy and girl should have looked towards each other direction. who knows they will be a match made in heaven.

I must admit i have a big slogan t-shirt but at least that one is not so in yr face.
Its from Izzue and says...A Group of People...or thing" something at least will get u thinking on what it means.

Happy Be-lated Birthday Kuromi!

My fave character ...the one and only cool and cheeky sanrio character Kuromi celebrated her birthday on Halloween....31 Oct! haha.....
its quite amazing how Sanrio developed their characters with such interesting personalities and profile. Japanese people just put a lot of thoughts and feel to everything. even Kuromi's star sign make sense to her look and feel.

well, i can relate to her!^^....hee so happy that i found 2 very cute Kuromi figurines yesterday too. boy they didnt cost cheap but she is just too cute to resist! the figurines are of Kuromi working in those Maid-Cafes in japan. All dressed up in black and white maid costume, you will see 6 different Kuromis..breaking a tea cup, standing at the cafe ad welcoming customers, putting ketchup on an omelette, looking at a bowl of noodles, preparing a drink.....all very cute....cuz she isnt a really good waitress and there are some anxiety on her face! haha.

After many many months...i also finally read the 2nd issue of Nana....dunno why it was lying around for so long......first issue, i bought the cheaper tw version but truly as a modern day Sporean woman, its really quite difficult reading in chinese although studied that subject for over 10yrs. second issue i bought Shoijo Beat version...the US version....yup Nana talking in american style english...but its so much more of a breeze reading thru it ...haha. it aint cheap though....about double the price!! but its difficult to translate and paste the english words nicely in those manga talking bubbles. 2nd issue was more upbeat.....really cool.....like how the both Nanas....finding their apt, decorating it and forming their friendship. Rocker Nana is indeed scary and cold looking but she can be a rather good listener and loyal friend i feel. Cheerful Nana is a typical simple minded rather air head in a way but so positive and sunny.

Envy that cheerful Nana found a cool job in Tokyo.....a retro furniture shop! well, thats the cool lifestyle and culture vibe they have in Tokyo. something you can never find here!!

I Love my Holiday!

Wonderful holiday i had this time to Osaka and HK! Really feel like flying back there immediately!

I would say over the 10 days away from Spore, i had a very fruitful trip! and feel so happy. this time work didnt get in the way and i managed to see a lot of nice stuff and catch up with some friends.

The weather was really nice too.....saw blue skies and fluffy clouds in both Japan and HK...yes! HK...thats a really rare sight!...managed to get my Finepix Z3 in cool maroon at Den Den Town in Osaka too......and really at a satisfactory price.

Best of all, i watched MADONNA! yes Ms Lady M......finally after 20 years! omg.....she was so amazing......gotta really learn from her. This woman is like 48 but seems like 28 on stage...the amount of energy ...her figure is really perfect too. honestly PERFECT.

and in HK, saw 2 nights of J in the coliseum! the collaboration with the Symphony was great!

both shopping in osaka and HK is truly amazing....as usual didnt buy enough.....also happy that Aya brough us around beautiful Kyoto.....tried traditional Japanese desserts and home cooked food, and also visited a cool fusion restaurant.

bliss!

TVB Drama

Had a Yoga class yesterday early morning. love Sunday mornings...peaceful and quiet ...roads are also less busy. woke up early especially for Yoga.....but feel good after the class. Went to Scotts Coffee Bean for a nice breakfast and also to do my chinese homework....like times like this when you have some personal time.
The breakfast set looked great and tasted quite alright too...very hearty.
all was peaceful until some American tourist/businessman came in and started chatting on his mobile with that nasal american twang. he talked really really for a long time....i wonder...sunday morning ...got so much business to talk?!! anyway he went on for like an hour.....whole cafe was filled with his voice.

u wont see this happening in europe or japan.

read Sunday Times at the cafe. read about this DJ who is coming back to airwaves. 3-4 years back, i read about her getting married.....it was such a romantic thing...her creative field husband proposed to her with diamond ring at HK's Victoria Peak...night time and winter i think....so nice lah....just like TVB drama!! i like Victoria Peak with the lights and scenery....

now she already has a 3 yr old daughter.....and guess what, she named her Victoria!! becuz of that proposal day....awwwwwww......

Going on Holiday

After 1 week odd in Japan, Hokkaido...my holiday is over and now back and settled down in office again. Boy! was i glad that this holiday came at the right time.

At first i was dreading preparing for the holiday, my fc gat and my work...its was just all coming at the same time. nearly went crazy and had sleepless nights. most worrying was my work...the day i left office...my boss also scolded me for some stuff and that made it worst! and from there i rushed to my fc gat to see jc........i was late and had to leave early so i can make it to airport on time. in the taxi all the way from JI, i had to rush put on the arabian accessories and make up.

i normally get very involve in the gat and he usually visits once a year......but this time i couldnt chat longer with my overseas friends or even have time to take a pic or small chat with jc...
Jc was quite excited about the place...something i guess he hasnt seen......kept taking pictures with his own camera. he even declined the chair prepared for him, sat on the floor and took out his shoes like the rest of us. and he tried all the arabian food and esp like the sweet milky cinnemon drinks...2 big glasses! (no wonder he cant loose weight easily...ha!)
one daring gal came in a sexy belly dancer costume.....good figure too.
my friend later told me that when somebody asked "where am i"....some others mentioned ''not here yet''.....jc gave out a surprised look. keke...ok ...oh well.....i will just take it as something happy!...haha.....dream dream......whatever...

rushed home, bathe, throw a few things in the luggage...but i still had a heavy heart from my bad day in office....felt like gonna cry in the taxi on way to airport! luckily my parents managed to talk some sense into me and explained that working life is like that. on leave means on leave, there is nothing much boss or colleagues can do. just have to go for the holiday. when i am back, situation will be better, prob tdy is just not good timing. sometimes really appreciate the advise from older folks. i guess they are truly more experienced in life.

the flight on ANA was alright. i think their service improved quite a bit. last time i sat ANA, the crew spoke practically no english or very poor eng. air hostess all quite old also. but now different, eng more widely spoken, crew is young and pretty and entertainment system quite good. food also more standard. the last time was one cold crossiant for snack and some frozen looking sauages/pancakes for breakfast. now no more....er...still got that packaged crossiant..hahah but breakfast was much nicer. rice and some fish. spore style. didnt get to see captain though...wonder if it was a Kimura looking captain a la ''Good Luck" ...haha!

Landed in Narita and the queue at customs was crazy! so long and so slow. nothing changed...still the slow clearance. but maybe cant blame them cuz heard a lot of pple try to over stay in japan, work there and earn japanese yen. so they have to be more careful. saw Santata and his band at customs too! i spotted him immediately. my dad didnt believe me...ask how can he be so young? but i was sure. anyway he is not old lah...and very fair. dad went to ask one of the musicians...and they said yah..its santana...woo...not bad, get to see at least one star in japan.

tour guide was good, lead us well to the right places for the transfer to Haneda (domestic) airport which is about 1 hour from narita....and then 1hr 20mins flight to chitose in Hokkaido. slept like a pig while on the bus to haneda. tired and couldnt sleep on plane. watcthed this corny movie "failure to launch" ......cant believe hollywood makes this type of film nowdays. its watchable but u know the standard dropped like mad when got fake animals like dolphines playing with the lead just to make it funny.

the ANA plane to chitose was even bigger than the plane from spore to tokyo! that shows the power of the local market. it was 2 levels and maybe like triple the capacity.

landed in Hokkaido! after about 10 hours of travelling!.....felt a bit like a zoombie on the first day. but guide knew this and arranged nothing on the first day, just for us to rest and relax.
Luckily we got a traditional japanese room that night (half of the group got western style rooms). FIRST TIME i felt the experince of sleeping in traditional japanese room. the room is a very standard format and design. Tatami is of course made of some kind of straw and its very beneficial to health. Over the process of your sleep at night, the straw mat and pillow will actually draw the humidity from our bodies (about i cup). There is a nice tea set on the table too and also some japanese confectionery. inside the sliding cupboards are 2 sets of Yukata for hot spring and a coatee.

there is a footwear area after the door and then after that area, the room is raised slightly higher. toilet and room is also separated by sliding door. very cute lah the whole concept and very proper.

toilet wise, its super small but their bath tub is very deep. some hotels have the bidet....which is automated water to wash your butt. you can chose front or back wash....warm seat, music while you do business, deoriser, pressure of water and temperature of water. some more expensive models, you have automated toilet seats and cover and heated seats so the aircon dun freeze yr butt. .......haha....very hygenic lah...but waste a lot of water and electricity. but i guess Japan is an advance and clean nation so there. one step above the rest.

Hokkaido is truly a wonderful place, its bascially an argriculture part of Japan but it has its own character. Way up north, Hokkaido is near Harbin and Russia....., the climate is always cool or very cold, but never hot and humid. My dad said the place reminds him a bit of Sweden. Hokkaido is also a rather European influenced place with some old colonial buildings....and european culture.....more later

yawn

doing silly budget and staring at groggy financial numbers....WHY AM I DOING THIS??? cant answer. end of the day, go home, sleep, wake up, work again. neber mind.....going to Japanese Heidi land soon!

did some research for accomodation in osaka.....even the cheapest hotels are like s$100 a night.
location so so lah.....got cheaper ones like $30 per night per person but shared bathroom and got curfew. think of it, pay a bit more i think ok. true, hotel is only sleep at night. but if dun sleep well at night, how to enjoy the next day. haha. good to be rich man, just stay at westin or hyatt.

chat with hk fren last nite, she said she wanted to visit Juje island in korea if she could take leave from work. i asked why jeju, its like a normal resort island....she said rather than japan, she likes natural places. japan is too artificial. she rather stay in HK which is also artificial. this strikes me a bit as i realised yes! bingo....thats the word to describe Japan!!! everything is artificial and perfect! sometimes pple ask me how is japan.....i cant really describe the place.

almost everything is in place, sort of, mountains and clouds look perfect (in good weather), cars looks cute and perfect, shopping malls neat and tidy, products all in eye pleasing candy like colours and immaculate packaging etc. i guess the whole country can generally sum up as a mix of MUJI + SANRIO kinda of feel.

yesterday tried Coffee Scrub from Skin Food. body smells like some mocha-cuppacino after wards....keke...which is not exactly a bad thing. the scrub is made of cofee, sugar, salt and honey....whole thing is brown and dunno why when first touch skin, feels a it warm. now skin now pretty smooth. good stuff.

aiyo....italy won over home team germany last night! germany didnt score at all. jialat.....this only shows any thing is possible!! tonight portugal and france. i think i will prefer to support portugal. seen them play against england...they werent exactly suberb but at least more killer instinct than the brits. during penalty shoot, they were so much more confident. france is also good but they look real worn out. italy......good team but not exactly i feel ready to win.
been reading the forums on the matches at soccernet.com damm hilarious the way fans insult and swear about teams they hate or argue with fellow forum members! some end up real vulgar but in a way amusing. extremely witty some. even bad spelling from non-english speaking europeans can be a topic! i think most of the forum members are guys and, man...they are downright childish.

(side track, talking about tis, my colleague was eating prawn soup noodles in the office, it was from a famous store and the soup is very rich with prawn stock....in air con space, the soup lets off a very strong aroma.....its quite nice but pungent...another guy walked in and said loudly " wah lao!...who is eating jiou? !!!(urine in hokkien)......." )
i couldnt stop lauging cuz it did smell something like that! haha...i think becuz of that statement i wun be eating that prawn noodles for a while.....)

Cristiano Ronaldo from Portugal is now like some sort of villian who cause england to lose....but i think everyone also targets him cause he is also a pretty boy (chinese media calls him 帅罗). he is also some gay icon. haha.
now he is even more famous after the world cup ....and i think we will be seeing more of him soon.

Gizmo

Finally got my chocolate! thanks to this!....hmmm.....power of marketing nowadays is incredible.

but glad with my purchase.....just heard some songs on the phone MP3....download some classic alt rock songs. funny feeling to realise that Smashing Pumpkins suddenly sound so dated :( ah....... we all have to move with the times...sigh....

actually forgotton about MKNSS for a while since Feb ...but recently some discussion on it revived my interest in this wonderful show. last nite even dream of HB! aiyo.....i was at some class learning something...and he is one of the students!! haha.....he could actually speak rather good korean accented english and asked me some questions. he was extremely polite and with that megawatt smile and built...can faint! anyway dream ended there.

So mature? or immature?

Saw some posting from crazy MNKSS fans, they virtually can translate every interview, post every picture...but i like their dedication. this craze will not last forever so just enjoy every bit of it.

......HB is quite a typical MCP, and also Blood B type of guy.....but hmm...being MCP doesnt really mean bad...i think sometimes a man got to take the lead.

同样是在接受采访被问到三顺时笑说:我也不记得三顺是谁啦!(他可是前一天才去探了班的哟!)

During an interview, he was asked about Sam Soon (Suna) too. He joked, "I also can't remember who Sam Soon is!" (Excuse me, he just went visiting her the day before!)

**
理想型是善良,能好好吃饭而且能理解我是演员的女人,和剧中的三顺很类似(她说他也有三石的一面,他又说理想型和三顺很类似,真的好有默契啊)

"My ideal type is a kind person, eats well and could understand the fact that I'm an actor. Someone like Sam Soon in the drama. (Suna said he's like Sam Shik, and now he says his ideal type is someone like Sam Soon. Wow, they really are capable of reading each other's minds!)

**

When senior Kim Suna was standing in front of him, he was really nervous. The speech he prepared before the meeting was entirely forgotten; he only kept his head down and smiled. This gave Suna unnie a mistaken impression that he's very hard to please. Fortunately, during the filming later on, Hyun Bin showed his kind personality. Every time there was a kissing scene, he was more nervous than Kim Suna. The embarrassed look on his face was very cute. (This is weird! Exactly who was more nervous during the kissing scenes?!)

**
玄彬:「我喜歡的女生,她要很理解我的工作,而且她一定會很會吃,年紀沒有關係,只要不要超過我媽就好。」

Hyun Bin: The girl I like, she'd have to understand the nature of my job, and she'd have to have a healthy appetite. Age doesn't matter, as long as she's not older than my mother.

**
现实生活中的有可能爱上一个30岁的女人吗?
玄彬的答案让人充满期待:“如果是真的喜欢,如果妈妈不反对,为什么不可以呢 ?”

Would you fall in love with a 30-year-old woman in reality?
Hyun Bin's answer gave us hope, "If I really like her, if my mother doesn't disagree, why not?"

**

Hyun Bin said that his mother really likes Kim Suna who played Kim Sam Soon and often asked him to bring her to the set to see Kim Suna. He said his mother approves of this "daughter-in-law" very much. (Knowing that Suna has a boyfriend, a shy person like him still made this statement? Now this is a rare situation.)

**
“我看女孩子的第一眼,还有和她们说话时,我不是看她的脸,而是先看她的手,我认为由此可以看出她的个性是不是很贤惠哦!”巧合的是这样的情形延伸到《我叫金三顺》戏中,当玄彬在金善雅与郑丽媛间做选择时,最后玄彬毫不犹豫地选了金善雅,玄彬说:“其实我不是很在乎外表,最重要的是对方一定要有一颗善良的心。”

When I set the first look on a girl, and when I'm speaking to them, I do not look at her face. The first thing I'd look is her hands. I think I could see whether a girl is capable of becoming a good wife through her hands." Coincidentally, the same situation can be seen in KSS. When Hyun Bin were to make a choice between Kim Suna and Jeong Ryeo Won, he chose Kim Suna without a second thought. He said, "Actually, I don't care much about the appearance, the most important thing is having a kind heart."

**
在和金泰熙拍广告后被问到会不会和她来电,很坚决的答到:金泰熙以前,现在,将来都是我的前辈。(和之前说到宣儿的对比也太明显了吧!)

When filming a commercial with Kim Tae Hee, he was asked whether there was any chemistry between them. He answered precisely, "Whether in the past, the present, or the future, Kim Tae Hee was, is, and will only be my senior. (The contrast between this and the answer he gave regarding Suna is really too obvious!)

**

Until today, the girls Hyun Bin dated are either the same age as him or older. He said, "Love and age are unrelated." He sees himself as a guy who places more importance on a girl's inner beauty rather than her looks, and his only requirement is that she must be a matured woman. In order to capture his heart, she'd only have to act herself. It doesn't matter even if she eats a lot and laughs hard. But she can't be spoiled, and she should be able to accompany him when he's working. (Hehe, we know that even if you don't tell!)

**

If I really like a girl, I'd want to be a man who could understand her and take care of her. Don't all girls like this type of guys? Relationship that my parents disapprove of is an absolute NO. Actually, I'm the MOST realistic person ever. (His thinking is really matured. But then again, if you ended up with Suna......your parents would of course support you whole-heartedly!)

**

Regarding what kind of husband he'd want to be, Hyun Bin already has a very specific thought, "Whether a woman is considered pretty depends on her cooking skill, the way she dresses and her husband. Which means, when a woman cooks well, wears sexy clothes, and there is a charming husband standing beside her, she'd look expectionally pretty. I hope I could satisfy one of the three requirements in order to make my woman prettier. The first two requirements she'd have to work hard on her own, I'd be responsible for the last one." (Hehe, well said!)

**
“我后年一定要结婚”,“想要与三顺那样的女人结婚!两个人可以一边相爱一边快乐地生活着,这不是更明智的选择吗?
如花美男’玄斌看到足球明星安贞焕夫妻的甜蜜生活后非常羡慕,他表示自己也产生了想结婚的想法(女朋友都没有,怎么一天到晚想结婚啊?! )

I must get married two years later! Wish I could marry someone like Sam Soon! We would love each other and live happily together. Isn't this a more rational choice (compared to his career)?
Pretty boy Hyun Bin admired football star Ahn Jung Hwan's life after marriage very much, and expressed that he wants to get married soon. (He doesn't even has a girlfriend, why is he thinking of getting married all the time?!)

**

I hope my wife would be proud of me. Most people spent their lives earning money to assure their life after retirement, but I think I should enjoy all I could at this age. Indeed, I learned a lot in university, but there are lots of things I could only learn practically. I put in a lot of effort in order to enter university (Chung-Ang University, film studies), but because I'm invovled in acting, I couldn't go to school most of the time. Even so, I still think I have to get a certificate, which is why I insisted to finish my studies. I think of my future children. Don't the kids have to fill in forms of family survey in primary school? I wish my kids could fill in the words "university graduate" in the "father's qualification" field. Of course, this is not the only reason I went to university, but it's at least one of the reasons. (Not only does he think of getting a wife, he thinks of having children too. How matured......)

**

International online entertainment news reports that Korea's famous star Hyun Bin switched from his young, sunny image to a matured look. He started keeping a long hair-do and gave us a feeling of gentleness through his stares. At first, we thought the fans would react to this change furiously, but most of them still think Hyun Bin is the most handsome Korean guy ever. (Hyun Bin didn't respond to this. But being matured is a good thing!)

**
电影结束后想交女朋友,一定要,因为我的年龄也正是时候,作为一个男人爱一个女人是正常的。
(对啊,所以你们的暧昧也是正常的 所以我们支持宣彬恋也是正常的 )

After the filming of this movie ended, I'd like to get a girlfriend. I have to. Because I'm at the suitable age. As a man, it's only normal that I love a woman.
(That's right! Which is why the ambiguity between you and Suna is normal. Which is why we support SunBin!)

****************************

Lastly, I wish to discuss about something out of the topic, coz it seems everyone is interested about Binnie's first love.
He said, "I don't remember when I met my first love, and I didn't spend a lot of time with her too. I kinda misunderstood her or something and I never even got the chance to figure out the truth before I realised I already lost her. I only realized how much I loved her after the loss! But things that you lost are difficult to search for. This painful loss of his first love made him understand one thing, "Breaking up is not something you could simply say to your lover." (So, treasure your love now!)

So far, hate to admit that i am not exactly a handworking student but i like to listen to her stories on china, the culture revolution, history and great chinese people from the past. i think tell her that i am thinking of studying in Beijing, taking chinese history and culture. She will look out for me and said my standard currently shouldnt be a problem to get into the university courses! haha......er....i am not so sure about that.

I would prefer to take the History course in english ..... but living in Beijing would be a great opportunity.

Socceroos...haha

The moment i came back from my chinese class, i quickly switch the TV from Da Chang Jin to the match between Japan and Australia. wah .....1-1....only about 10 mins left.... everyone expected Japan to win la...i mean Aust?....no one ever really heard they played football! but aiyoo..last 5 mins...really twist of fate man....Aust suddenly scored another goal! 2-1. i think all the japanese at the stadium and in japan were stunned and shocked for words!they were going to lose! and to aust!

more jialat is the japanese players suddenly seemed so lost on the field that aust scored another goal! 3-1!! and then it was over! hmmm.... can imagine the kind of disappointment of the millions of japanese people in front of their TV screens..
they expected to win. and they are one of the stronger asian teams but they didnt really play well.
Downunder, they must be having a real good and happy Tues!! eveyone must be so excited and thrilled!

football really has an effect on the whole world, the whole country can cry and laugh with the outcome of a match! really a pity for those countries who are not into the football action like US and Tw...etc..missing out on the excitement.

well, its Korea tonight.....hope they have a good match.

New Generation

...so fast...its Sunday.....weekend half gone. Later my sis going to sell some stuff at the Zouk flea market....hope its good. never been to any of their flea markets. curious what its like to see zouk in bright daylight! haha...i know they normally hold the CNY lunch party for old folks around that area every year too. indeed a cool place. its been renovated ... must go there and dance one day...been far too long!

its also gat time again, ah zhe will be in town soon, but sigh...i will be in japan! such good timing again...anyway, time to look out for a suitable place. he seem to love all the past few venues, esp outdoor spaces. he said its nice to see places like that in the heart of the city. places with greenery and big out door space. hardly can find any of these in taipei city. ..hmm..hope this time there is a new place to be discovered too. some places shortlisted already, just hope the prices are ok too.

while browsing thru some blogs, realised that quite a few teengaers like listening to ah zhe songs. one gal even said she ad friends got high at a mini party singing Guo Huo! even she laughed...but they really did cuz its such a K-song, a classic.
some said that Campus Supertar guy sounded like ahz zhe and hope he, with his distinctive vocals could be the next ah zhe, ....gald to know all this!

its weird cuz i thot most of them will just like jolin and jay etc but seems these pple do sing his songs at KTVs, and also classics from other superstars in the 90s like Faye, Jacky.....they keep saying their love to reminise about their primary sch days and all the good songs then. these pple are prob sec school, jc or poly now but i think there are definitely more "mature" in a way than my generation. some may even be just in kindergarten when songs like guo hou was the rage. well, at least they think more and also know what are good singers and what are the current fadish ones. they may also like the fadish ones but they also know how to appreciate the quality ones from the last decade. the 90s was truly the golden age of chinese pop. remember when i was in sec 2, i was crazy about early 80s stuff and wished i was born in the late 60s so that i will be in sec school in the mid 80s! the eng music in the 90s and late 80s were not very good.....quite sad actually..haha. it was only till near mid 90s that we got Grunge and Brit Pop. after that, i think pop music went all the way downhill. and Hip Hop/R&B took over.

not sure if i am the only one who felt that way. i did share this with haha...bernard lim when i wrote some feedback letter to him ages ages ago. and he felt it was amusing to hear it. he was one of those kids in the 80s...but dun think anyone at my age said that before.

台客

Just read the new chinese free paper.....not bad...most of the articles have hanyu pinyin of the key words and also the english meaning. i think this is a good way to help us rojak singaporeans master better chinese.

there was an article on Jay Chou that he has broken up with gf Patty Hou....aiyah whats new?....but it seems this time he is really exposed as a playboy cuz now he says he never went out with her before! aiyo......this is bad.....apparently he is now with Hebe from S.H.E and they spend a month in London together. some tw tourist also saw them.

also reported that Jay's mum dun like Patty. When they interviewed Jolin, his ex GF, she commented "perhaps 'never been together' is his pet phrase!".....this is quite sacarstic as he said the same thing when they asked him about jolin when he went out with patty. hahaha.

i guess when u are male, young, rich, successful...you really can get anything u want. some stars when famous really let fame get to their head....sometimes i wonder if its better to be a guy or a girl...seems guys can have more fun......but the only thing is that guys normally have more pressure in society to "achieve" a good career. that can be very stressful.

right now in my office....TGIF....thot tdy i might go down to the PC show cuz i badly need a monitor. monitor have been giving me green and yellow screen for 6 mths...haha...also dunno how i tahan. sigh....tis mth spend a lot liao....and now with monitior , prob another $400 gone. hope there are some good bargains at the show. very sian work on this island....not flexible to go out ....can only wait for the bus at the designated time. in office now, there are 4 gals and 5-6 guys. but so quiet always.....dunno whats wrong with this office?

tend to mix with the secretary more cuz she is bubbly and siow siow. the rest are all around the same age group but just mostly keep to ourselves. hmmm.....i guess in spore there are just too many cliques......too many different back grounds. u could only mix on the surface.

my mum was just telling me about some of her park walking friends.....all of them of aunty type or housewives and they all chit chat in the evening while exercising in the park....although can talk but my mum still feel she is not totally like them cuz they are all chinese educated and 100% chinese speaking. my mum can speak mandarin but still she said the way they think is very different. its different when u are eng or chinese educated. so she can never 100% blend in.
as for the super duper english speaking type, they are very "keep to themselves" type...not so sharing and concern...so in the park only smile smile and then go home.

my mum still feels more comfortable with the group of chinese speaking frens cuz they are more warm but still cannot 100% adjust or be very very close.
sometimes i feel to retain dialect is also advantegeous. cuz no matter u are eng or chinese educated, once you can all speak a common dialect, u really click.
aiyah...anyway...spore i feel is still rojak lah.....our education system, sometimes focus on eng, then now on mother tongue....upside down.

only advantage we have to probably we can watch both eng and chinese movies without any subtitles at any one time! hahaha.

Odd

Have a really odd colleague.....she likes to expose people's age during their bday!
dunno why...i mean normal pple wont normally advertise how old you are unless 1. you are a kid or 2. very old.

during my bday tis year, she put exactly the number of candles on the cake for me. thus my whole office knows how old i am. not that i really care...but this can be really insenstive.
and today, is my boss birthday...she send an email to wish him and cc all of us ...the title of the email is "HAPPY 45th BIRTHDAY!!"....aiyoo...mad or what...odd lor i find. my boss is male and yes he still looks quite young etc...but why must give pple a birthday greeting like that with AGE all published for everyone in the world to see?

this girl is 1 yr younger than me....but all along i thot she is the oldest in my dept cuz she dress very old and no make up type.

What in the world?!!!

Went to Imax at Science Centre for "Poseidon" yesterday. didnt want to watch this movie cuz i felt it looks like a lame re-make. AND TRUE ENOUGH! ITS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my colleague organised this and i thot since i havent been to the ommi theather in like 10 over yrs, i go see it for the effects. ticket cost $15, theather quite full but too bad the movie is downright bad. unlike the original 1972 version, this totally sinks. its not exciting, script is terribly corny and meaningless. seems they just film a few scenes that dun gel and throw them together for a movie. it was not thrilling at all or make you feel on the edge of yr seat, despite the ship turing over and evveryone falling upside down. in 72 when technology was not advance, the actors used their skills and emotions to demonstrate the fear and challenge to escape. now aiyooo...everything wanna use computer generated effects.

the actor's were all like c-grade actors. even though some of them are actually not. wonder where the director get all the approvals for this big sinking project! better off making something else!

long weekend no long enough

....the last long weekend has passed....sad....our next PH is in Aug...and i think its not long wkend.
it was a nice easy weekend but too bad i nearly caught the flu. started on thurs...already sneezing whole day and felt weak but still nie nie go for yoga class. its like that once you paid up for something, u tend to want to make yr money's worth. end up did half hearted yoga in class. waste time:(

Fri- Vesak day! lots of interesting Vesak day activities at various temples...wanted to go to one in Aljunied where their had a Nepal fair....but weather started looking gloomy and didnt go out cuz scared rain. still feeling weak and ended up sleeping 6 hrs in afternoon.

Sat - woke up and still not feeling too good. sore throat and cough......drats got ktv later....luckily cleared up. a bit worried that i booked expensive ktv....dunno why i decided on Party World instead of K-box...guess i wanted a change......ended up fren got discount coupon. so happy for that! funny thing is that there was a black out at the KTV...first time encouter this. mgt only gave a measly 30mins more. but overall experience ok lah......sound system i think better than k box. only thing i dun understand why KTV toilets never clean!? this is a big mystery.
later when to Food Republic in Wisma......this is really one of the better food courts around. its clean and has a nice concept, the food is pretty alright too...BUT...yup...all these comes with a higher price tag. i was craving for something soupy and also the korean food there. heck about the throat, i wanted the spicy soup. while waiting for the rest to order, i also got "sucked" into buying snacks from the travelling vendors, they had this dim sum girl going around with a trolley and indian guy walking around selling papadum. end up buying 2 baskets of dim sum at $3 each and the papadum. later also bought a ribena drink at $1.80 and barley/ginko dessert at $2. ...all in all $17.80 at the food court! ....ok...lah, i guess feel good can already.
wanted to also buy the famous fried hokkien sotong mee wrapped in leaf....but queue is too long. my fren who just came back from HK, naturally had some craving for wanton mee and they had the HK type selling too.....$4.50for the noodles....and the seller asked "xiao mei, yao bu yao jia char siew?"...she happily said "yes!".....ended up $2 extra! haha...she couldnt stop grumbling.

stayed there until 10pm...and then moved on to cineleisure for coffee. one fren who now worked with a record co joined us. she brings pple like A-Do and JJ around.....asked her who is the handsomest singer she has seen, and really wanted to faint with her answer!! it was A-do! siow. anyway, maybe becuz its her artiste. say he is very generous and chin chai. hmmm....

Sun - Mother's Day! that time of the year again...although everyone says its commercialised but still mums will be mums...they wanna be pampered on this day. if give ang pow lagi better.
brought my mum to eat the nasi padang at Rendevous....long long time never eat there .....yummy. i guess they hold secret recipies. u will end up eating lots of rice here cuz the curry is so good. after that watched Mi3 at the newly revamped Cathay. sound system and seats are excellent. movie so so..ok lah quite entertaining. there wasnt much plot actually. but nice to see it filmed in Rome and Shanghai. mum said tom cruise is very handsome and charming when he smiles. the new cathay building is quite nice, exterior a bit plain though...but hrd its done by famous japanese architect. same one who did Vivo city at world trade centre.

for dinner, went to my dad's fave part of spore - race course rd area to eat at a coffee shop. this coffee shop got a china store selling Guo Die and china noodles. the guodie was excellent! the meat not very oily and skin very thin and crispy. not starchy at all. there is also a white rojak store. they dun use prawn paste but rather malt sugar (mai ya tang) to make the sauce, so it ends up light and refreshing. prawn noodle store also not bad. generous with pork ribs, prawns and got thick soup.

Monday....ahh . NO MOOD TO WORK. took mc....was feeling real bad in the morning. body was aching and felt feverish. went to Dover clinic....nice feeling to walk around on a weakday ....everything is so peaceful and quiet. ate soup fish ball kuey tiao at one of the coffee shops. $2 only, one big bowl! so cheap man......only can find in this type of old estate. definitely taste better than any foodcourt.

and thats the end of the long weekend......

Music makes the world go round!

so happy that u heard a good song while going to work these 2 days. it really perks one up esp when u are dreading the journey to work early in the morning. yesterday flying dutchman played Culture's Club's "Miracle".....man! its feels so good to hear this kind or true 80s pop music ....boy george was such a cool character....although he was a cross dresser type and wore tones of make up but still he appealed to all audiences, no one really felt he was ah kua or whatever. his music also included a lot of soul influences....good stuff. when u listen to this type of happy upbeat 80s pop songs, really make u feel like u are back in the good old simple days. days where life in spore was picking up, pple getting more affluent but yet not overly "pretentious" yet.

this morning i heard OMD's classic "if u leave" from the Pretty In Pink OST. one of my all time fave movie and also OST. in fact i remembered i didnt own a CD player yet in the early 90s and i went ahead to buy this $25 OST CD just to keep. it was also my first CD.

They also played a Kon Kan song...oh dear suddently cant remember the title....this was a bit more towards the late 80s where music was getting a bit chessy with Stock Aiken Waterman (kylie minogue, jason donovan, sinitta...kind of songs) and US pop crap from pple like bobby brown , Paula Abdul, MC hammer etc...but it was still a very fun and happy song. one of those few better ones out of that period.

Unusual Monday

zzzzzzzzzz....feeling so bored in the office...which is rare cuz its MONDAY!!! but touch wood lah.....maybe cuz i had to do like 4 proposals last few weeks at the same time so now its "relax" time. oh well, better enjoy it while it last.

quite pissed that had to pay $336 for a burnt table in bintan! warning to all ....NEXT TIME...DO NOT put the portable bbq pit on a poolside table!!! no matter how sturdy the table looks! it WILL BURN!!! quite funny cuz during the beg of the bbq, somebody asked "hey...will it melt the plastic?" and everyone looked under the table and said "looks fine and continued bbq.."
then the food got cooked real fast as the heat was quite intense....i said "wah this portable pit not bad ah......so effective and so convenient! hhehhehe"....at the end of the dinner, while clearing up...the shock came!!! "er...rob rob...come and see this ah....." newspapers were removed and 2 big burnt holes appeared on the white tables!!! aiyo! siow liao.....the plastic melted and driped down like a candle wax ...below the table were rather beautiful formation of the masmellow like plastic.......haha.....oh no...how much will this cost us man......and any way to dispose evidence?
maybe throw in the sea! hee....no lah, my company will know of it...sian...

no wonder there was a caramel like smell earlier, it was odd but not unbearable .......please ah touch wood...hope this plastic thingy is not cancerous!

i though this might end up like $300 a table cuz outdoor poolside furniture - the good ones are expensive. Plus hotel cut throat prices....ooohh...:( but oh well, at least below my estimation. but they converted the bill in SGD to Rupiah ...terrible lah...at 5700 rate. so a little bit more than the $336. none the less, the weekend was fun! good to getaway from spore and just chill out at a resort. the buggy attached was quite a highlight for all. haha. those that do not have license had chance to drive.

the bintan resorts are usually full of Sporeans (where else can we go for a quick getaway?) but last weekend, less sporeans cuz of polling. nonetheless, the spore expatriates and korean tourists made up for the visitors. find it quite amazing where so many korean tourists in bintan? its been like this for the past 3 years. after all it was not Bali...in fact just a small island off Spore and basically have to come thru spore to visit bintan (easier way). the massues (massage woman..haha) said that many of them come for honeymoon and added they all marry young like 20s. whereas spore couples who come all like 30s or late 20s. they like the sunny weather cuz korea is normally cold...and suggested i go korea for my honeymoon next time as its cool and nice...not like Spore and Bintan... javaese massage is fantastic....just different from those massage in spore. dunno why, but they massage well and you feel the blood circulating and you feel very relaxed. for $38 an hour, they will come to your room for the massage. and i heard some sporeans massage every day whjile they are there esp those playing golf. wow....what a life

when going back at the ferry terminal, saw class 95 DJ rod monterio.....he was there too...played golf i presume. i do find his shows quite funny on radio...although corny but will make u laugh. he is better than glenn ong. and music is also geared towards good 80s stuff. anyway, the ferry terminal was full, i guess sunday evening was the most popular timing. before the gates open, pple were queing up already from the glass door. i know in everyone's heart, we all wanna rush for good seats and not sit with strangers. when door open, everyone sort of rushed towards ferry quickly.....a bit kiasu action....as expected Rod commented on this on his show yesterday...saying that why sporeans so kiasu etc etc...resort shld relax lah......say how he was suprised pple acted this way....i felt like calling in!! as if he didnt rush to the door when its time for boarding? did he seat down and waited till everyone board then he board...no man!

although its yeah, kiasu beahviour but lets face it if you dun walk quickly of line up earlier, trust me you are going to end up in some corner seat alone! or look silly walking up and down the arles looking for a seat. further more of course famililies wanna seat together. i find as long its not running and pushing pple ok lah. but i am sure he is guilty of it.

Badddd Habit!!

Drats! today late again...and had to take cab in. arrrggghhhh...$16!!! thats like 4 days lunch here...sob.....dunno why forgot to set alarm clock last night and slept with make up on.....sob sob.....ok i MUST FORCE myself to at least wash my face the minute i step into the house!! no matter how tired i am....!

skin looking terrible in the morning when u sleep like that. noticed dark eye circles also bad.....dunno why sleep 6 hours also like that. think i must get more beauty sleep. last weekend, took one 4 hrs afternoon nap......woke up with really good skin and eyes looks fresher. i think this is the true beauty sleep aka...additional sleep besides night routine. but sleeping is sometimes such a waste of time....haha.....shouldnt think like that...ok....

sister watching some some episodes of Long Vacation at night...she another nite owl....cant believe that drama is like 8 yrs old. kimura looks like a stick in it. but it one of those classics. realised he acts around his own age in dramas....his age have been increasing over the yrs in the drams...latest in Engine and age is about 32 i think....haha...good luck was 28 or 29? wonder if he will be acting when he is 50! who knows maybe NO successor.
actually he can pull off a 27 right now....but i think he is not that type of actor who will do that.
really enjoy watching SMAP variety shows on you tube (to the creator of you tube - You are the man! or woman...) kimura looks totally a kid on it unlike his cool characters on TV.
there is one segment of him like a jap a-beng singing that "oh mih hee" song in a cheesy nite club and having exaggerating body movements. good fun.

cant believe watching the Da Chang Jin show now. its slow, but pretty good story telling.
chinese teacher said korean food culture cannot beat china...haha. they still do the food not as fine and not much art. well..true true....china was the super power then. becuz of this show, lots of SEA tourist go korea. remembered lori mentioned met a thai couple in her seoul hostel, and they wanted to visit all the Da Chang Jin sites! but cant read speak korean/english at all. lori shake head....she also couldnt help them...haha....they were just pure crazy over the drama.

burp....

Cant sleep now although its 1am....sigh...tomorrow panda eyes again and maybe dull skin? somemore got meeting with customer. but how to sleep with a full stomach. just went for a buffet a la carte dinner at tung lok......pretty good food but now feeling so je-lat. i guess my system is not so used to a big oily meal like that.
sometimes i wonder where cantonese pple get their appetite from? i realised in HK, all of them finished every single thing on the plate. seldom left over...and their portion is big compared to spore. already the best item on the buffet was a mini buddha jump over the wall...and that was like a big bowl. then followed by wasabi prawns, chilli or steam crabs, cod fish.......ahhh.....too much food already. but maybe its just me, cuz most pple can eat.

somemore today colleague said my face is fatter. my town colleague that is who haven seen me for about 2 mths or so. happily i thot i have lost some weight cuz now desk bound, i really try to eat less and walk as much when i can. but seems it doesnt work.....still moving around in sales and eating a lot i looked thinner. sigh...maybe i am one of those who drink air or water also can get fat. no wonder sammi cheng said before her concert tour she only eat air!! no choice, she also that type eat a bit more face like a pig immediately.

i guess i have to live with it......actually before my colleague made this comment, i felt quite good and confident....maybe i did grow fatter but i didnt know but still confidence is there....and thats good. but now its sort of affected... :( sic

oh well, prob i have to do more exercise. last week company held this bowling event where everyone must go.....well got point system....ok it was pretty fun after all....and to think i prob bowled like 3 times in my life...i bowled pretty well. at least top20....haha!
there is this outstanding colleague that grabbed the 2nd position. seems this fellow is good at everything! almost perfect.....quite unbelievable sometimes, good at few other sports, things like go kart, wakeboard , snowboarding, snooker........ is intelligent, rich and pretty good looking and bosses respect this person too......i wonder what kind of breed this of people are made of? maybe rich people just get better and better and poor ones just sometimes get worse and worse.....mmmm...unfair world....actually most of the sportsmen in spore all come from rich families. got $$ to cultivate probably.

of course there are also those rags to riches stories...but they dun come by easily.

sigh...just tried to play the CD my sis got from her friend on Millionaire's First Love with hyun bin inside....cannot leh! thought can see already....

still feeling je-lat.....alamak....

Comfort

Finally finally.....i took the "plunge" and bought myself a Descamps pillow case and bed sheet! this is crazy....i have been hovering around the Descamps counter for a while....seriously its been about 18 mths since i saw that nice pillow case with beautiful red flowers in Nice-Galaries Lafayette....was quite excited to see the brand here in spore and even that nice design but the shocking price of $119 for a pillow case is too much to handle!

anyway, luckily last week, they had a big discount....could see that the stock packaging was quite old due to the high prices...but lets face it Sporeans are practical pple. that red flower pillow case was still there. maybe 3 pieces left. Sales promoter told me some french pple here get so excited seeing the brand here and will start yakking happily in french! they are the main customers. and also some HK tourists.

i am happy that i am enjoying every moment with this new found "luxury" ....the cotton is somehow smooth and nice and cooling. its not egyptian cotton but the french being french of course have to use 100% french stuff! ......bought a feather pillow too......esp for neck. havent been sleeping well for quite a while. nearly bought a Tempur pillow but decided to try a cheaper version first which is find a "hotel type" pillow. the sales promoter understood exactly what i meant and gave me a "hotel" pillow. its 40% duck feathers and 60% down feathers or the other way round. something like that....and cover must be egyptian cotton so its smooth and cool. so far ok....sleep has improved. realised sleep is now very important esp when we have stressful work and aging skin....... so worthwhile to invest.

Happy Week

Quite happy i had a pretty relaxing birthday week (last wk)....hee.....sort of slacked the whole week away by eating and day dreaming....well...monday i was in KL....super nice colleague offer to drive us up so a short break....he could drive well and we reached KL in 3.5hrs! traffic was smooth too......luckily my phone didnt ring much from those company pple....KL wasnt too hot thank goodness...lots of shoes in KL...and sales too. the izzue there was disappointing...clearing old stock from 1 yr ago collection. Tues: no mood to work, still holiday mood....haha...boss also busy so......at night wanted to eat crabs at Joo Chiat, bday dinner with family....Eng Heng coffee shop....they have nice pepper crabs there but service sucks! anyway, crab sold out at 7pm...irritating.....lucky i had a back up....went to this japanese restaurant at Siglap...called Igen. dinner buffet was great....quality of food is fresh and good. grilled cod fish and golden mushrooms wrapped with bacon very shiok! finally went back and found a great surprise on my bed!!! when i on the lights ....i saw THE SAM SOON PIG on my bed!!! SO CUUTE!!! i was really thrilled cuz i love the drama so much and never knew that this pig made its way to spore!!!
Sis bought for me as a present....^^ dunno where she find also...cuz only available on net from what i know.

Next to Sam Soon pig is Kuromi.....my fave sanrio character at th emoment. she is cool and suppose to be "evil" haha...hence that skull on her black cap. Kuromi mix around with My Melody, she is melo's child hood play mate...but sort of when off the track and become like that. haha....she started appearing in a japanese cartoon series and soon merchandise came out. very cute! i read her bio data.....Kuromi likes cool and happening guys (" you xing de nan hai")....haha and her latest craze is " reading romance novels". hee

Wed: My bday! quite suprised that new dept colleagues organised a lunch for me at Hill Top. the indonesian food was pretty good and they paid everything. later in the afternoon, they presented me with a cake....in the boss office. boss had to sing Happy Bday too! paiseh lah...the funny thing is that...earlier on lunch...one male colleague asked "so how old are u actually"...i just said 27! he said..oh....thot you are 24!...happy happy but dunno pulling my leg or not. then came out the cake with 3 big candles and 1 small one!!! aiyoo! i got a shock!!! how could they do this to a gal! haha!! now everyone knew......the person who prepare is also a lady...older than me somemore,...so insensitive meh?!! not that i am particular about age but the thot of fooling that male colleague now gone liao! sigh! anyway, i do think most pple thot i am younger.

At night went to this steak house at fullerton area.....food not bad esp the fried mushrooms. service also good. best surprise was when waiter said today is ladies nite...so complimentary wine, beer, vodka and gin ...free flow!!! wow!! this is too good to be true! the meal is avg like $20 per main course....they give free flow booze is really very worth! so drank to my heart's content. blew out another cake, this time ice cream. went home, sis also bought a small slice of cake....blow candle one more time

Thurs: still of course no mood to work and boss not in or something.......lunch time another group of colleagues brought me to mac at west coast. this is quite a nice stand alone mac...some thing like ridout garden in queensway. they surprised with a rive mango cake.......and also a present wrapped in isetan paper bag. couldnt find lighter so fren borrowed from a group of 3 guys behind us. they lend only if we give them a slice of the cake. my fren said ok, if they sing the song for me too....so they did ...haha..... gave them about 1/3 of the cake.

the present was a real suprise......they bought a che2 bag! the thing is that is the smaller version of the model i am carrying at the moment!!! hahaha!!! so crazy...similar colour too. one girl told the buyer that i like che che bag...so she went to buy that model which she think is very me...true enough she is correct! but day in and out she didnt notice i had the same bag only bigger and colour a big diff..anyway....small one also good....can use for casual outings.....most prob my sis will borrow it....

fri......boss totally not in...went Bintan for golf! haha......one of the colleagues last day , so we ordered KFC and Pizza in.......during the lunch they talked about MNIKSS ......had a nice discussion with them on fave scenes.....didnt know they watch. actually they have been circulating k dramas around.....they lend me one...about some colleague kids.....dun really look entertaining but just took it. at night went swimming....since dunno how long never swim liao..but felt good after having some water theraphy.

Sat - had the nice indian rojak and chicken rice at waterloo street. yummy! really the best indian rojak in spore and prob the world. dunno who will take over this rojak business as the chef is already 74 yrs old. seems its hard work making the sweet potatoe sauce everyday at 4am. later walked around bugis and went to guan yin temple. lots of pple cuz its guan yin bday. later my sis introduced me to a nail place at bugis .....it had a shanghai theme and was really relaxing cuz no body! nice. service was good and the music was cool......it was some chill music shanghai style. i like the place cuz it was not cramped or bright. the chairs were big comfy arm chairs a la shanghai european style. did a spa treatment for feet.....cuz payday...very good.

later i decided to get a ticket for disney on ice.....yes dunno why i felt like going ...just had the disney magic urge...haha...and never seen one of these ice skating shows. the show was great esp i like the small world part. its taken from the small world ride in disneyland which i love. its a truy happy ride, after you come out , you will smile...guaranteed. the characters were cute also...like the shark and pig from nemo and lion king. i end up being a sucker for the merchandise by getting a 3 pack cotton candy and a mickey mouse crown! the crown was nice....but i didnt dare wear it for too long. haha....

Sun...woke up late and laze around....nite time when for dinner at a simple cantonese style casual restaurant at Hwa Chong swimming pool. then went to turf city.......the place like almost going to close down! but sam soon was playing in the DVD shop there...haha....

tomoro back to work...... :(

yuks....

ok, thats the end of the bday week........! hope this kind of feeling can repeat more often...keke

eason's world

Been a month since i went to HK! time flies ..should have bought that vivian westwood wallet there! now regretting a bit. but when you are there, you are so afraid of over spending cuz there is INDEED too many many desirable things to get!!!!

The main objective of the trip was of course to see Mr Eason Chan's "Get a Life" concert. told myself just had to go this time. and he said in spore maybe its the last time he will perform at the HK coliseum. (my hk friend said...'nahhh..dun believe him...now with wife and kid...no way"...haha) ....well whatever, but i feel eason is one of the more outstanding singers around and he knows his music.

It was my 3rd time at the coliseum....and everytime there is a sense of excitement esp when walking thru from TST east thru the KCR station....u will be walking with many many pple heading for the same direction accompanied by lively chatter in anticipation of the concert!
lots of young pple naturally dressing their best. the trend now is big crazy curls in hk so you see lots of gals in their colourful gear, pretty make up, 3 quarter pants with boots and some with an equally cool bf by their side.

Eason delivered a great concert...100% effort definitely!! in fact some parts i felt he was really too serious about singing with emotions and getting everything perfect. but overall he wanted to focus on music and less nosense. suprisingly he didnt talk to the audience until the very last part of the concert, saying he wanted to sing more songs...which he really did ..... the concert was done immaculately (as always) by K's productions.......there was a cute goulish theme for the whole set......and the characters that accompanied eason were all so weird and cute! there was some spider , pumpkin heads, bubble pple, a cute smoking house and a cloud than could rain on stage.

The concert was not really a commercialised one where he sang all the k-hits and had fancy dancing and fireworks....but it was really just him and what he wanted to express. dun think it made superb headlines the next day or wowed everyone to scream or whatever, but it was a showcase of an artiste that is serious about his craft and the world he live in.

He is a very funny guy who has lots of crazy ideas...and he acts them out accordingly. seems once he was really bored sitting for 2-3hrs at an awards show, that once it was his turn to perform, he practically jump up the stage and started doing aerobics or whatever moment he could do as his butt was so 'tired' from all that sitting!!! pple thot he was nuts....but he said he doesnt care cuz that is what he feel like doing at that moment. haha.....

the coliseum was full almost everynight, tickets ranged from HK400 to 100....highly affordable. everyone was armed with pong pong sticks...something spore concert dun have. eason had to do 8 shows straight...!! wonder how can tahan like this everyday but this is HK so no body complains of work...haha!!
straight after the concert, the most amazing thing that can only happen in hk is the concert photos for sale of THAT NIGHT for sale!!!!! outside the hall.....in full colour and good angles....you can buy a piece of memory straight away. this is how fast they work and cash in on the moment.

last sat, a retail article came out in ST, written partly by my poly lecturer ...an PHD in retail....and it was mentioned HK is the #1 shopping place in the world ...one of the main success is that they are excellent in creating impulse buy for the consumers...where everywhere u go ...u see things and think ..." i gotta have THIS NOW!"......trends move fast and old stock get slashed as sold off quickly unlike here....u may see the same thing sales after sales....haha

read from media that eason is throwing a wedding dinner party today 323...he and his long time gf is now finally officially married. and so romantic to think that he has arranged 3 mins of fireworks for the evening....costing S$60k. this is really sweet....i think i will prob just cry if this happens at my wedding...aaahhh...... being pisces...i think i am a sucker for this type of things. dream proposal would be a mild winter's nite at victoria peak in HK...with all beautiful night view around...haha......and dream wedding would be something like those they hold in Tokyo Disneyland.....princess gown and horse carriage.....hee.....siow liao....
anyway in japan, most of their wedding packages are very fairy tale like...decor and design and all...wonder why spore dun have....i am sure some pple like this. its so boring where everything is simple and urban. weddings must have a touch of romance! or not marry for what...just rom can already. some pple the rom off the rack fake satin gown is the same as the wedding dinner wear......i dunno lah....just seems unmemorable ...more like a chore.

hmmm...prob its down to the weather here AGAIN......haha.....hot and humid ...so every thing simple chin chai is the best or not get mung chang!!! hahahahaha!!!

ok, back to Eason......well, looking at his career, his wedding and his cute daughter...just feel he is very Xin Fu now.....all the best for the newlyweds!

*yummy cake!
Finally decided to buy the Maxim crispy cake that my friend always rave so crazily about! took some courage cuz the cake cost HK$145 per pound and minimum order of 2 pounds! its called Chap Guo Cheng Yan or something.....the ultimate indulgence....cripsy sweet biscuit base with a layer of walnuts and chocolate and also yougurt, soft sponge, tons of generous pieces of expensive fresh fruits in between and macademia nuts inside the cream. Plus the whole cake is wrapped with thin butter biscuits....actually its quite an experience to eat it...cuz i had to figure out what in the world they put inside. my fren always buy this 1kg odd cake back from HK ....thot i just try lah....my dad thot i was nuts to bring a fragile cake back. funnily at hk customs.....when the cake went thru the scan machine...the officer shouted at the staff..." careful!! its a cake..."....hee...they rather rough handle your camera and handbags....but noooo...a cake is very important.

Was i ever a teenager?

Went to NUS last weekend, after a long long time.....havent been there since 1997 when i was doing my degree course and used to treat the library as my second home. i was there to sort of support a friend who had a stand at the cultural centre selling jewellery and stickers. wondered if i could still remember my way around the chanllenging up and down steps of of kent ridge. took the old faithful 33 right till the end and yes! i could still find my way easily.
much has changed, except noticed a lot of foreign ...many of them. as i walked thru, i heard chinese nationals, ABCs and indian nationals....spore has changed a lot...just stand at any bus stop now, and what you hear are a spread of foreign languages buzzing away. dun only hear sporeans talking that much now.

the fair was not really crowded, they were holding an arts festival and had many performances through out march. there was an olio dome at the cultural centre and my goodness the sandwiches were $9.50!! isnt this place for students...i guess inflation went up that "much"!
soon, a group went up to stage, it was a duo....malay singer and chinese guitarist. all young. they did some covers...not too bad and the malay guy sang a jay chou song...aiyooo is this necesary??
the teens nowadays are not shy or reserved at all......in fact they are rather professional and sort of street wise. although the audience was only a few pple, the singer tried to create some interaction with the crowd.

there were 2 kinds of pple at NUS.....one was the pretty and happening pple (eg gals who had good figures, usually long groomed hair, "sexy" and confident dressing, quite tall...and guys who were hunky and attractive)...they talk loudly and practically know everyone that comes by. some are really quite fake and unnatural, but of course some just naturally bubbly and well liked. then they are the second group of pple....the more reserved, 3-4 girl or guy clique....usually simple in dressing..like jeans, cheap skirts from far east plaza...talk softly and modest make up. they are interested in all these events, but usually dont stand out in the crowd or express themselves outwardly.

the crowds suddenly started to come in about 7.30pm...ooohh...there was a HIP HOP contest going on....! this i gotta see man.....very curious to know what is the HIP HOP standard in spore....i always see them practicing in the underpass near esplanade...they dun look very good lah...haha. The MC was a guy and gal, all dressed up in their hip hop street wear gear. the girl looked so hip hop korean babe...in a black tight singlet tank top, track pants, trucker cap and long straight black hair in a ponytail. heavy mascara. cool....at least the dressing is correct for a start.

they were pretty good at hosting and quite natural....maybe like MTV pple wannabe but at least they set the tone for this kind of competition....you gotta speak some street language. the contestants were pretty ok, 2-3 very impressive, the did free style to music they didnt know. but most still not enough energy. the defending champion was a gal who could really shake her bootie...she wore this really low low pants and of course showed off her "six pac" . for guys, the most impressive was a korean guy who came from korea just for this (?)...not sure if he is a student but he had the groove...very good dance steps to fit the music. and very smooth too. he was a crowd fave. the audience had to vote for their fave by coming to the front to put their cans into the contestant's bag....quite silly and waste time but hey students organise one...haha
some guys couldnt dance very well and still join....wear some silly shirt over jeans..and jumped up and down like a hippo or something. i think they just learn maybe for 2 weeks?

the korean guy was out in 3rd round cuz in this round there was some obiang woman who came up like in line dancing costumes or dated paula abdul 90s dressing. she is ex NUS committee or sum'ting...and they had to follow her kinda paul abdul moves....eee...the contest suddently took a turn into the 90s. (sadly my prime teenage years were in the 90s....one of the worst era for pop music....chessy and horrible. the only good thing was brit pop and some alternative US grunge but that wasnt really thruout the 90s or that maintream....pple who ruled 90s were very varied...spice girls, NKOTB, 2 Ulimited, Aqua, a boring mellowed madonna, vanilla ice, michael bolton and lots of one hit wonders...ok you get the picture...). Anyway, he was out cuz he couldnt really follow her moves, it was just not his style. the defending champion girl was good, she could follow and memorise well. i couldnt really see the judges in the crowd but they sounded like old lecturers...haha

overall, it was interesting to watch this competition or observe what do these teenagers like nowadays..or how their behavior is....funnily i released if i was 18 right now viewing this....i would have just view it the same way i feel now at 30. dun think i would be extremely excited or anything ....just observe u know....which makes me think was i ever young once? with youngish thinking and behavior....i think not so...i am all along the same! with that same matured thinking even at 16, 18....when u look at some teens, they usually have foolish actions or some complicated BGR stuff....but i never "fell" into that which i wonder if its a good or bad thing...haha... in sec sch, i could see the reason for my frens to sit on buses which passed certain bus stops to view some guys or wrote love letters to their crush...it just seemed meaningless to me. and i didnt find any guy good looking too! haha..the only guy which i sort of liked was my fren's on off bf....cuz he knew brit music and stuff.... but thats about it. .
as a teenager, i was only keen to listen to BBC for the latest brit charts, reading smash hits, going around the malls for sales, going to book shops and CD stores....lying in bed..doing nothing.

now at 30, nothing has really changed much (except got $ to travel)....maybe i should go in reverse gear.....where others are starting to mature....... hmmm..weird...
