Helpful info! - Travelling to Malacca
i really wanted to do a post today cause I want to share some info on travelling to Malacca. Haha. Was searching on like crazy on the condition of WTS coachs to Malacca cause i booked them last weekend. Yeah, i am one of those that don't really like big surprises.
Well, i could not find any photos or review of their coaches despite them being a big bus company. What i was afraid are things like horror stories about coach dropping u off middle of the road and changing buses in Malaysia. and i paid a slight premium to travel WTS.
ok , the verdict. Going trip, the bus was labelled Executive CEO cruise...the seats were nice, leather type, 27 seater....very clean bus. One stop in Yong Peng for 20mins where u can get a quick meal. No TV , no water given. Dropped us right outside Casa del Rio which is great as we were staying there. And WTS is one of the few if i am not wrong to stop there.
Coming back , pick up directly outside hotel. Bus arrived 30mins earlier. The condition of the bus not so great as the leather seat going one but it was fine. no TV also.and the only stop is a toilet stop half way thru.
Overall WTS is ok, the best thing is their service, they have a person to check in the guests to the bus. ride was safe and smooth so thats important too. I hope they can also include the TV luxury services for malacca route too. At the moment its just KL route. After all malacca is still some 4 hrs away. I am sure many wouldn't mind paying for it.

How time flies again!
And in a flash it is 2016 August. This blog has been around for more than 10 years.
So what updates to I have? Well, I have watched a fantastic movie recently as its called "Sing Street".
Its everything that i want to see in a movie and it amazes me that someone actually made such a wonderful 80s theme gem!
The videos from the early 80s, the brilliant songs from The Cure, Duran Duran, A-ha - everything is in it. Also the fashion , mood feel - everything is covered. most importantly the innocence and care free days of the youth perfectly acted out in the film.
I must say the director is also very smart to cast a good looking young actor for the lead role - whats more he can actually sing and act quite naturally. that makes the movie a whole lot more 'credible' or 'acceptable' in a way. the supporting cast is also carefully selected to support the whole theme of the movie - very impressed. what is also smart is composing and writing original songs that marries the film. in the past week, i have been listening to 4 songs repeatedly! its that infectious - The Riddle of the Model, Beautiful Sea, Drive it like you stole it and Go Now.
How did they do it? The sounds are very 80s but yet it current and the lyrics - inspiring.
The director (John Carney) is probably spot on when he said he did a film to reflect things he always wanted to do as a teen in the 80s but didnt. I guess we have in all of us some fantasy sequence similar to that in the movie but thought it wont happen or people wont understand. Sing Street definitely speaks for lots of us 80s fans. indeed those optimistic days are something i miss. I hope the movie does well (around the world!) and word will get around how good it is. Everyone should watch it. I am glad the current generation is able to appreciate it as well.
so please , movie distributors and marketers - support Sing Street!
my rotten tomatoes review:
When i first read about this show being set in the 80s with a great 80s soundtrack, i was sold cause i love everything 80s, But watching it , i realised it was even more. It wasn't just a happy , ha-ha-ha movie that you watch and walk out. it was very well directed and produced and the cast was excellent. the details with the VHS video, the happy-sad Cure like song, a link to the iconic Back to the Future movie, the family problems, the know it all brother who just couldn't move forward...and then you have this innocent bunch of kids just performing these really good songs. The movie totally brings you back to those care-free, fun and colourful days of the 80s - where of course there was much more optimism compared to the crazy things that are happening in the super fast paced world these days . It was also extremely inspirational with the ending and the song that came along with it. Its not a high budget movie but it manages to capture so many emotions. the young cast incredibly manages to capture the essence of the 80s on point (Esp the lead actor) the life that happened 30 years ago. Just amazing. getting the DVD, OST everything.
A must watch.

Wow! its already 2011 and this blog is now 6-7 yrs old? How time just zoom by!
I saw my last entry, i was still stuck in the cubicle. But hey a few mths down the road, i am now at a second new job! sometimes things just happen and you have to make a decision fast.
Well, i chose to leave the old place. i thought i would miss it terribly but apparently on my last day, as i left the office, before shutting the door and having no access anymore, i took one hard look at my company's logo on the wall......i didnt feel anything. oh well......i think its prob time to see new things.
as i am stuck in the office temp for training, i happen to plug into Lush 99.5 to cover my hears from this noisy colleague.....The Music at LUSH is so fab. so cool and just so ambient. i realise the person planning the music is someone i use to see every week years ago when i was at that cool CD shop on stamford rd......
this guy used to come in every monday i think and buy 1 or 2 alt CDs. He looked rather intellectual and some sort of cool, although very skinny. and he had this rather premium looking credit card...haha...for me , a 20 yr old newbie in the work force that time, he was really like ....different.
that was 16 years ago!!!! he still have the good vibe for music i guess judging for the beautiful music on Lush......but i wonder how he look like now?

Still here in the cubicle...
Surprisingly, we have access to blogs now. Maybe they realised pple will indeed go crazy if they are not given an outlet to EXPLODE during grey cubicle office time. haha. actually what real difference does it really make if they let us access to FB, MSN, Youtube....etc? og whatever.
Yest, we had some prep talk.....some dude said we are in a best company and industry. aiyah, every industry also good lah when its a motivational talk. Yes i am still here....and dreading the routine movie parade coming up. isnt it so boring? what else can we organise? the customers here less and less....and mgt isnt really bothered. they just follow the flow from others.
how to escape? aiyah...then if buy house and get into debt how? so sian right.
on a brighter note, had a nice time at ahzhe's concert last month. seeing overseas friends come to SG....its a happy feeling. The concert was good.....maybe cause it was just the plain good voice ahzhe showcased. so there was a bit of nostalgic feel.
he is working very hard nowadays, more so when he was in his peak...funny rite. but perhaps now he is on his own and so when its yr own business, you try harder. just hope when he is back here again, he will be in a relaxed mood. seems he was not feeling very well when he arrived in SG. The new album - Genesis also has a old skool feel. a little 90s feel to it. i think all the songs suit the perception most pple expect of him. i sincerely hope it is well received! sales is one thing but that is not the most important thing now as downloads have taken over. Just hope the reviews, support for this is solid this time round. And that he makes a big comeback in Taiwan - his hometown. They better wake up and realise that they have such an outstanding singer!!!
and oh yeah, he is still that cranky in the morning. haha. snapped at me for giving some paper thin envelop. saying he has packed already...! Huh!??? ok whatever. haha.
i think the jay chou and hip hop crap has more or less dwindled. pple are back into basics. good singing and vocals. thanks to the various singing shows. so appreciation of music is back. but the hottest groups are still those from korea....anyway their fans are mainly ladies 20 and below and only last perhaps 6mths! haha.
lately a lot of talk on property......sg is a small place, not much topics to talk about sometimes. anyway just as you are about to pay that dreaded 50kCOV....which is pretty crazy, the govt comes out with new rules and the prices start dropping! good news but what is the correct price now? aiyo......dunno man. wait or just go for it?
saw this movie Babies yest. very cute. just love the japanese baby ......LIfestyle...haha not the baby but her lifestyle. her parents are urban cool man. if only i could be mummy in such an environment. haha. not that i am materialistic but this would be most me. if i were a baby, i think i am most like the american kid. a bit go with flow....haha. the african kid is a little gullible, and easy to influence. the mongolian kid, a bit crazy actually and the japanese kid...crazy competitive and ambitious.
hmm....

Viva Europe 2010!
Darn! As more sites are banned by I.T., I now can’t even get in Blogger to pen my thoughts during boring and dry work periods. Blog has been quiet for a while….its funny as I usually do write in stuff which I encountered or experienced such as trips and holidays.
Perhaps now with things like FB, pple find it less enticing to share on a blog. FB is so “instant” and so Ba qua! But everyone enjoys that. I have expressed before the worry of everything moving so fast, and now I feel it has come to another level.
Half of 2010 is over…and during this time, I actually made a trip to Europe!! Yes far away Europe but yet it surprisingly seem like it was a trip to …gulp maybe KL or Tw! Why? during these past 6mths, I have become more and more restless and getting bored with everything in like 3 seconds. Oh dear. I dunno if its just me or just about everyone in modern society feels the same? Maybe its certainly better to go slow on the internet stuff and finding out every single thing that is happening.
I don’t like this feeling. Europe – specifically this time – my dream place London is one of those places that worshipped since I was 13 yrs old! Everything that is brit is cool to me. I wanted to go to Smash Hits land all the time, dreaming of the cool and funky music and fashion. Finally, I got a chance to visit London in March. Yes, it was nice…but I didn’t feel that type of excitement and anticipation as I thought I would have. Sign of aging? Perhaps. Or maybe that dam Goggle Maps? Before the trip, I was busily checking out where was Euston Road – the street where the YHA I booked was at. I saw the street, the shops, the cars, the mood of London even before I reached! When I finally arrived…hey, everywhere is familiar already. How can anything be new and exciting like that?
In fact, the exciting thing was when we were about to land into Heathrow, and the pilot left the communication with the Control Tower on the PA system. “SQ318, cleared for landing!”….in a crisp British accent came over the plane…wow! I was so excited!! We were nearing ENGLAND! LONDON! Ok that was about it. We took the A380 plane for the first time too. And thank goodness it was a smooth and comfortable ride. The plane was spacious and quiet. In fact, it felt that we took a short coach ride to KL. Honest. That’s the beauty of travelling direct I guess. Haha.
Over the 2 weeks, we went to London, Painswick, Paris and Switzerland. Everywhere in Europe was beautiful due to the spring flowers and generally fine weather but it still wasn’t the WOW like what I felt maybe a few years back. Everything seems to be ok only. Probably a sign of getting older I sure. I hope. Montreux was particularly beautiful with the lakefront and the crazy pretty flowers and snow capped mountains. And Painswick was quiet and peaceful. Paris was just filled with beautiful fashionable goods (eg hong kong high end boutiques) but it was not romantic. Honest. Maybe only during midnight where the lamp lit streets are filled with emptiness. All these, yes they were nice there and then, but when I was back, they were just forgotten in almost an instant. Sad. There is no lingering memory, just perhaps a photographic one.
In fact, the surprisingly thing is that my trip to USA 2 years ago was er…more memorable!? Why? I dunno. Let me think. Jumping out of the subway into the streets of New York with the big yellow taxi…I remembered that feeling very well! It was just wow…that moment, the “I can’t believe I am here!!” feeling. Maybe because NYC is very far away? Trip to US is very high risk? NYC is often portrayed on TV and movies? Hmmm…maybe the last answer is it. Yes, its more glamorous and of course after the 4 hr flight to HK, 6 hours in transit and then 15 hours to NYC…yes of course you feel a great sense of achievement! HAHA. No seriously, I remember Times Square very well. There is a vibe to NYC. Things are not as trendy as London or Paris but the vibe was different. I think maybe Europe is more a cultured place with history while NYC/USA is more a place with the entertainment and fun factor. Just like the Americans – the people who talk loudly, talk crap and do lots of silly things. Times square was filled with tourist shops, broadway (far more exciting than London West End), fast food and theme restaurants…and the David Letterman studio. Boy! Was I happy when I saw that – I mean we see David Letterman on TV, him running down to the deli with foreign staff….and now I am part of that scene!
NYC was also rather cool with the many apt lofts, edgy fashion shops. We went on to Chicago via a Greyhound bus (middle of the night ride), and took 3 domestic flights to Chicago from Buffalo and back to NYC. Chicago was less exciting but nonetheless, a nice quiet place.
Conclusion – Maybe its not the place but the journey and experiences and expectation. So can we apply that in life as well? To make our life more exciting?
